Backlash as King’s Lynn sign ex-Premier League and Bundesliga striker

King’s Lynn Town sign an ex-Premier League and Bundesliga striker as they look to be able to play out the rest of the season.

There had been concerns that the Linnets wouldn’t be able to finish the 2020/21 National League campaign due to struggles financial, however the chairman Stephen Cleeve suggests they are now in a position of fulfilling their remaining fixtures.

The club currently in 21st place, which is in the relegation zone, and questions remain over whether there will be any teams going up or down between divisions.

With that in mind, King’s Lynn have brought in some extra signings including Simeon Jackson who weeks ago had joined Chelmsford City with the Clarets’ season cancelled.

A club statement read: “King’s Lynn Town Football Club have signed Simeon Jackson until the end of the season.

“The 33 year old forward joins us on loan for the rest of the season, from National League South side Chelmsford City, having previously played for Norwich in the Premier League making 73 appearances and scoring 17 times. Jackson has also had spells in the Scottish Premiership and Bundesliga.

“Simeon Jackson played 49 times for the Canadian National Team, scoring 6 international goals.

Director of Football, Rob Back says: “We are delighted to welcome Simeon to the club. He’s had experience in the Premier League and Bundesliga and we are very grateful to have his services for the remainder of the season.”

Simeon said: “I’m grateful to be back playing football and I’m looking forward to being on the pitch fighting for 3 points on a Saturday.

“There’s thousands of players out there right now without a club so I’m just happy to be back involved doing what I love.”

King’s Lynn Town have also re-signed former loan player Alfie Payne with the 21-year-old midfielder was previously with the Linnets in a loan spell from Norwich City.

Payne was announced back in November as signing for Lowestoft Town until the end of the season.

The club’s director of football Rob Back told King’s Lynn’s website: “We are thrilled to welcome back Alfie to The Walks.

“He played a big part last season in helping us achieve promotion into the National League and we look forward to having him back at the club for the rest of the season.”

@jd_clementsgk: We must have more government backing… we must furlough players… this club will not last without backing and more loans, we will look to pull out of the league, we need more tax payers money 😂

@Leeeeee33: what a signing.. ggs

@BTFCMichael: But Less Than A Month Ago They Said Financially They Couldnt Finish The Season Without Grants & The Chairman Even Wanted Fans To Cough Up Something Like £300 Of Their Own Money To Help Them Out Because Of Next To Money. Now Can All Of A Sudden Afford Wages Of Ex Prem Footballer

@Ian_M1: Love a #ncfc montage. Great signing Linnets
