Aston Villa’s Tyrone Mings stamps on the face of Reading’s Nelson Oliveira

Tyrone Mings made his debut for Aston Villa yesterday since joining on loan from Bournemouth on transfer deadline day, however it didn’t take long for him to be involved in a nasty collision.

He and Reading’s Nelson Oliveira were tussling for the ball before the Royals forward fell onto the ground with Mings losing his balance and appears to have stamp is studs into his opponent’s face.

Oliveira was left with blood gushing out of his face then a lengthy break followed until Yakou Méïté replaced him.

After the goalless draw, Mings – who wasn’t booked – took to social media apologised for the unfortunate incident.

He tweeted: “Absolutely loved wearing the claret and blue today and over the moon with the clean sheet! @AVFCOfficial.

“Feel awfully sorry to Oliveira, I hope he is ok.”

Reading tweeted: “An update on Nélson Oliveira:

“Oliveira suffered a facial injury and has been taken to hospital as a precaution. He is fully conscious – get well soon Nélson!”

It’s not the first time Mings has been caught up in an incident like this.

Back in March 2017, he stamped on then Manchester United player Zlatan Ibrahimovic, as can be seen below…

Later on in the game, Ibrahimovic elbowed Mings which got him a three-game ban.

Football fans gave their shocked reaction to the injury, majority of those called for him to receive a banning, others defended him – check out those tweets on the next page.
