Arsenal’s William Saliba gets one month ban for explicit leaked video

Arsenal’s William Saliba, currently out on loan with Ligue 1 club Nice, get a one month ban for his explicit leaked viral video.

The 20-year-old centre-half has reportedly been handed a one-month suspended ban by the French Football Association after an X-rated video featuring the Gunners player was seen by hundreds of thousands on social media a few months back.

Saliba signed for Arsenal in 2019 but was immediately loaned back to Saint-Etienne for a year.

During that time, Unai Emery got the boot as manager and replaced by Arteta and Saliba has explained that “when I saw that the coach changed a lot changed for me too.”

Saliba didn’t get the chance to make his competitive debut for the Gunners this season, instead featuring for the Under-23s and in pre-season friendlies.

As a result of his lack of game time, the 19-year-old has since signed for Nice on loan in January and he was recently named the club’s player of the month after a string of impressive performances.

Saliba has been on-loan at Nice in Ligue 1 since January 2021 after failing to break into Mikel Arteta’s team during the first half of the season.

He has earned himself a lot of plaudits in his home country, making 15 appearances for Nice and picking up their January Player of the Month award.

In an interview on RMC’s ‘Top of the Foot’ show, Saliba has explained: “It is clear that so much has changed in the last year. When I saw that the coach changed a lot changed for me too. In this year there has been a lot of change.

“He judged me on two-and-a-half matches. I would have liked for him to play me more. But he told me I wasn’t ready.

“I was waiting for him to give me a chance, but football is like that. When I initially came to Arsenal the league looked very good so I showed up to training and wanted to train on my own to show the coach I was ready.

“I am happy now, I want to play for Nice. The idea when you’re part of a team is a better feeling for me.”

However, the Frenchman was centered around controversy in February when a video, which is believed to be around three years old, went viral on Twitter.

The video left users with so many questioned asked, after it showed William Saliba filming himself in a changing room not doing anything sexual, while another player sat next to him causally masturbating – an act that was seen in the clip.

The French Football Federation have concluded their investigation into the video and believed it to be ‘harmful to the image of the federation and football as a whole.’

Saliba received a one-month suspended ban for his part in the recording, which means he will not miss any matches for his loan club.

RMC Sport state that the youngster has been warned about his future conduct, with his punishment coming into effect from April 26th.

Despite his good form across in France, Saliba’s future at the Premier League club remains unclear.

He is yet to feature under manager Mikel Arteta, although the Gunners boss did leave the door open for Saliba to make his mark at the start of next season.

“He will come back for pre-season and he will be with us,” Arteta told reporters in February.

“Hopefully he will come back after playing a number of games and his performance raising and his development progressing in the right way. That’s why we made that decision.

“I know that sometimes it’s difficult to explain or understand after the money that the club has spent trying to bring him in, to send him on loan.

“But a lot of things have happened to him he’s a long-term player for us and we need to protect him as well. And giving him three or four games is not enough.”

It comes after Jack Grealish and Didier Drogba found themselves getting talked about on social media for their racy snaps.
