Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale was spotted being a ‘sh*thouse’ after receiving taunts from Brentford fans in the Carabao Cup clash on Wednesday.
This happened several times during the game, which saw him return to Mikel Arteta’s side at the Gtech Community Stadium, after ex-Brentford shot-stopper David Raya took his place for the last three games.
The Brentford faithful quickly reminded Ramsdale he had been struggling to keep the role of No1 with an cheeky chant “You’re just a s*** David Raya.”
In response, Ramsdale kept a clean sheet, helping Arsenal book a place in the fourth round as Reiss Nelson scored the only goal of the game.
Ramsdale’s best moment saw him put Yoanne Wissa’s low effort onto the post.
Another bit of sh*thousery saw the keeper turn his back to the play and give the home supporters behind the goal ‘the eye’.

After the game, Arteta took to praise Ramsdale’s reaction to Raya replacing him in the side.
He said: “He’s been exceptional around the place with the situation. We love him more for sure. We know him, we know his character and we are really happy to have him.
“I don’t think I’m the one to answer the question about Aaron Ramsdale’s quality because I’m the one who signed him when everyone else was questioning that decision.
“Every player is very important. We have a lot of injuries as well and players who contributed. But in football it’s about now, it’s about the moment. Today, he had the opportunity to play and he played a really big game.”
🗣️ “That’s what we need, we have seven injured players at the moment, we’re going to need everybody.” 🤝

Aaron Ramsdale give exactly the kind of performance we know he can last night. This was nothing new; it’s what he does. He is a top, top keeper. Like many #Arsenal players, he is much better away from home. We need to address the Emirates issue fast. #afc pic.twitter.com/Nx9TsmBmuS

Reiss Nelson’s early strike gave Arsenal a narrow win over Brentford in the Carabao Cup third round; the Bees improving in the second half with Aaron Ramsdale pushing a Yoanne Wissa shot onto the post.
Brentford head coach Thomas Frank:
“I hate losing, so it’s always tough to take. But I’m very pleased and happy with the performance and that is the most important thing, the thing we can build on. If we got a lucky 1-0 win, of course I will sit here and praise it, but if they hit the post five times and miss five penalties, I would probably be pretty irritated and it would be difficult to get around that.
“Now I can confidently sit here and say that was a good performance. I think Arsenal are very lucky to get away with this.
“The amount of chances we created in the second half, the high pressure, the energy – everything was very good, except the most important thing: to make sure the ball went into the back of the net.”
Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta:
“I’m really happy. With this competition, you are in or out – we are in. Two very different halves; in the first half, we had lots of control, scored a goal and had some chances to put the game away and we didn’t.
“In the second half, they had a more aggressive approach and we struggled to progress the ball and travel together. We were too direct and then it became a difficult game because there were a lot of duels, free-kicks, long throws we had to defend, bring everybody back every time and try to get out and win territory from there.
“When we don’t play that well, you need to have some big defensive moments and we had some big blocks in the box and Aaron making a big save as well.”

Here’s how fans reacted with Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale spotted being a ‘sh*thouse’ after taunts from Brentford fans…
@miaholder24: He’s a fucker but I love it 🤣
@adrianm_14: Sometimes I do want him to just be a little serious 😩😂😂
@TILIKI_OS: I love this part of Ramsdale so much. Sometimes, you need this in games like this.
@kiki_08078: Gabriel’s always screaming 😂😂😂😂
@afclucyyy: Him and Raya are at completely opposite ends of the spectrum. Raya is seemingly emotionless and Ramsdale has personality for days.
@goonlighting: Some people were like “ffs pay attention to the ball!” when he turned towards the Brentford supporters after the Big Save, but maybe that bravado is part of the fuel that makes him good. He is what he is.
@naphtrax: The minute the away fans started hounding him I knew he was about to have a blinder
@OoohToBeAGunner: I fucking love Rambo man.
@gstew_twit: This is the exact reason I supported adding Raya to the squad. I often feel like Ramsdale is not fully focused on the game itself. I’ve just never been comfortable with a player spending time interacting with the crowd in any sport. It provides the appearance of a lack of focus.
@RikiSomaroo: Love to see this. His heart is always with this club.
