Fans left fearing Macclesfield could go down same route as Bury as unpaid players speak out

Fans read Macclesfield players’ statement on not being paid their wages and took to voice their anger at the situation with most of the blame going towards the EFL…

As a supporter of @buryfcofficial I'm really torn here:
a) I would hate another local team to follow us down the football drain, but
b) if Macc are treated in any way differently to Bury (including providing evidence of funding) I shall be incandescent with paranoid rage??

2 years proof of money needed.
The @efl have set the precedent.

EFL They don’t give a f!?k about smaller clubs they have 2 books of rules depending on who you are

How were @thesilkmen allowed to sign more players pre-season when they still owed money to 4 or 5 players for last season? Can @EFL explain this?

Surprised they don't have the money to pay? Surely they had to provide proof of funds to the @efl. After all that's why @buryfcofficial weren't allowed to start the season and were then expelled.

@ulstershaker: Hope they are not relying on the @EFL because they’re as much use as a chocolate teapot!

@dcokell: And the @EFL will just stand by and watch as the same thing happens over and over again

@SteWolstenholme: Too much of this happening, need to get our clubs run properly. EFL needs to lead

@MarcBoatwright: It’s just gonna keep happening over and over again before the best football pyramid in the world is completely eroded. Put some sanctions in place now and save our game @EFL @FA @premierleague

@__Michael_Prior: But they could start the season and Bury couldn’t? @EFL cock up again

@Sawbo69: More proof that @EFL did not treat @buryfcofficial fairly. They clearly didn’t ask Macclesfield for proof that they could pay their players for the coming season as they did for Bury. I actually think this would give Bury grounds to take EFL to court for restriction of trade.
