Andy Carroll has disagreement with fan as Reading drop into the relegation zone

Andy Carroll has a disagreement with a fan of his own club as Reading drop into the relegation zone following a 1-1 draw with Birmingham.

The Royals find themselves in the Championship’s bottom three and are now in deep relegation trouble.

After just six minutes, Andy Carroll found the net to give his side a perfect start.

Reading knew how much they needed a win today, days after the club had been docked six points by EFL.

But it was visitors that snatched a point for themselves with a header by Lukas Jutkiewicz in the second half.

Both Cardiff’s win at Blackpool and Huddersfield’s victory at Watford saw both clubs rise above Reading.

This left the Royals in the relegation zone, one point behind QPR and one point below safety.

Sky Sports’ Jeff Stelling said on Andy Carroll confronting a Reading fan: “If I’m a Reading fan and I want to have a moan about their performance, I think I’d moan somebody other than Andy Carroll, don’t you?

“Because Andy Carroll is determined he is going to have the last word. And there you can see the Reading fan saying ‘you were OK, mate. It’s the rest that were rubbish’. They picked up a point today, but they find themselves back in the relegation places.”

Paul Ince said post-match, as per Berkshire Live: “It doesn’t feel like a defeat – I thought we were the better team,” Ince said in his post-match press conference. “We created some good chances but it didn’t really fall for us. When you say it’s a point but it feels like a defeat – that’s a defeatist attitude and we don’t need that at this moment in time.

“We have to be positive and it’s a point. We got off to such a good start and looked like we’d get two or three but after that we went passive and started to sit back. It is something which happens historically at this club where you go a goal up and you feel like you’ve got to try and defend it.

“We went deeper and deeper and allowed them to take control, and that’s what happened. Their goal is poor from us – we don’t get out to stop the cross and [only] one man, two at max, is in the box and it’s 1-1. They didn’t look like scoring.

“Then we got nervous and sometimes when you get that a few players slash at balls and that filters through the whole team. That’s when you need people and characters to stand up and talk and tell people to calm down. At times we looked like we were nervous.

“I told the players don’t be nervous, this situation is not down to you. I said to them before they went out, you’re in a situation that you are the victims of. Whatever happens, it’s not going to be down to you so that should give you some freedom to play. I also said you can be the hero and do something special and keep this team in the league so there is no reason why you should go out and be nervous.

“But sometimes you can score too early and I said you’ve got to keep playing, keep picking points up. You don’t expect Huddersfield to keep doing what they are doing but QPR are in it, Cardiff too and it’s another point away from Wigan and Blackpool.

“The last thing I want is to be fighting relegation with three or four clubs, but touch wood and no disrespect to them, it’s a straight fight between the teams above us so that’s all we can ask for. I wouldn’t say it feels like a defeat, I’d say it’s disappointing because we had a couple of chances in the second half which didn’t fall for us.

“The boys gave everything. The fans were tremendous and got behind everything. They understand the situation and the players responded to that. You could see after the game they were out on their haunches, they were absolutely knackered and that’s where we are at this moment. If we can pick up a win on Monday then four points from these two matches is not a bad return.”

This is what social media users said on Twitter as Andy Carroll has a disagreement with a fan while Reading drop into the relegation zone…

@DazSportsNews: Feel sorry for Andy, playing at such a tinpot club #reading #rfc #morons

@dom_33: Haha go on Andy C

@GillsYeti: Liveliest Iā€™ve seen Andy Carroll since his Liverpool days šŸ˜

@Wallsy1871: This fan makes are club and fans fucking embarrassing he carried us fucking prick

@__givname__: imagine arguing with your boss, shut up Andy Carroll!

@AlexDow9: Why the fuck should we clap them after another woeful performance?

@CraigBelcher01: Biggest bellend Iv ever seen on a pitch

@wholelottadej: Andy Carroll #2 is killing me

@Paco_Allen: Wanker

@HarrisonLeigh10: My football club is a comedy show

@notrating1: Hahahaa just fucking get us down now

@GingerPirlo_: Wouldn’t mess with Carroll like mate.

@Toshisaram: Going down fast. Love to see it.

@CScott___: The blokes a prick

@benjiRFC: Could try being less crap first

@caldini4: Twat, and I’m not talking about the fan

@Tatum1871: Weā€™ve dropped into the bottom 3 after one of the worst performances of the season and he wants us to clap them? Fucking earn it then prick. We showed up and made noise for you just for you to look toothless for yet another game we should be winning. Fuck off #ReadingFC

@Reading106: Before people lose the plot, how many points do we get for the open letter, woe is me statement, “backing the boys” and the player video? If Ince is in, we are down. If the club don’t sack him, they are letting us get relegated. #readingfc

@jimborfc1: Worst result of the season. By far

@m1871e: Not good enough. At all.

@Peter_Meek1990: Sack Ince now

@georgey_doors: Yeah, we’re done for now. Last one out please turn the lights off.

@cjlsmith87: That was a must win today considering next 4 are incredibly hard. Canā€™t see them getting out bottom 3 now. If they have any interest in staying up they have to sack Ince and give the side a chance. I think my dog would manage this side better than Ince.

@charlie_r_17: seriously in trouble last 10 mins absolutely pathetic sitting back

@Saul1871: If thatā€™s attacking football then weā€™re fucked

@richiealum: Reading looked lost, seriously lost. I can’t see them staying up after watching that. No urgency. Reminds me of Blues under Aitor Karanka. The only thing giving them a chance is QPR being so bad at the moment.

@olliewaggy: Another poor result and sleepwalking to relegation. How the club did not sack Ince when it had the perfect opportunity at the international break a couple weeks ago Iā€™ll never know. We are League 1 bound and wonā€™t be back for a very very long time. #readingfc

@lankylibero14: Pivotal, realistic 2 more points dropped – 3 out of 9 last 3 not good enough. Warnockā€™s Terriers punishing us with another win against the odds. Between us & fake hoops to battle it out to survive, both deserve League One next season with performances & results quite honestly.

@JamieCollis1995: League 1 here we come, literally sat back all game after we scored. Only got ourselves and our stupid tactics to blame. Iā€™ll keep saying it, Ince has to go!
