Andre Gray investigated by Watford for having 20 people and teammate at his home

Andre Gray has been getting investigated by his club, Watford, for having 20 people and one of his teammate at his home on Friday night.

The Athletic first reported that the Premier League footballer, who is the partner of Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock, attended a form of gathering/ party last night.

This comes less than 48 hours before one of the Hornets’ most crucial games of their season.

Watford, who sit a point above the drop zone, play host to Southampton, who are 10 points from safety, on Sunday afternoon.

The fixture will be televised live on Sky Sports with kick off at 4:30pm.

There are seven games left to play out for the 2019/20 season, which restarted earleir this month after being halted in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Andre seemingly goes back on what he said in a recent podcast for Watford, where he spoke about being sensible.

Just a month ago, Troy Deeney and several Watford teammates chose to stay away from training.

They didn’t want to take part in small-group training, the day after three members of the club’s playing and coaching staff, including the centre-back Adrian Mariappa, were found to have tested positive for Covid-19.

Watford have been one of the most outspoken clubs regarding plans to restart the Premier League in June. Deeney had said he would not participate in group training and manager Nigel Pearson raised concerns about the possibility of a coronavirus‑related death in the league.

“I’ve made my position very clear, in terms of what I think about the overall situation, but having said that my job still is to support the people I work alongside, and that’s what I will do,” Pearson said. “Once the decision had been made to restart it was very important that we try to create an environment in which the players feel safe.”

Since then, the club have played out two league matches, the first being a 1-1 draw with Pearson’s former club Leicester, and then the second being a 1-0 defeat against Burnley.

Pearson continued to back Gray in terms of playing time, stating he will get his chance and has a lot to offer the club.

The gathering that Andre Gray had wouldn’t be as bad as it would have been if he’d done it in April, but it’s still completely letting the rest of the team down.

Hypothetically if the whole squad had to go into quarantine because Andre Gray’s gathering caused a spike in infections, it’s doubtful they would even have grounds to ask for fixtures to be moved.

Due to the coronavirus, government regulations advise no gatherings or parties and can only be in touch with one other household.

You cannot gather outdoors in a group of more than six unless exclusively with members of your own household or support bubble or for one of the limited set of circumstances set out in the law.

You can meet outdoors with groups of up to six people from different households, provided social distancing is observed and you stay two metres away from anyone outside your household or support bubble.

You cannot visit friends and family inside their homes unless you are in a support bubble.

Or stay away from your home or your support bubble household overnight – including holidays – except for in a limited set of circumstances, such as for work purposes.
