Amad Diallo reveals the reason why he stuck his middle finger up at Man Utd fans in their post-season tour out in Malaysia.
The Manchester United winger made the X-rated gesture toward supporters after receiving “serious personal abuse” about his mother, the player and his club confirm.
The incident occurred outside the team’s hotel in Kuala Lumpur during United’s post-season tour, with a video of Amad raising his middle finger widely shared on social media.
As per Daily Mail, he was later seen posing with a pair of fans in a lift while Garnacho displayed the same gesture. However, that picture is believed to have been more playful.
The abuse was not racist, the club clarified, and was not related to fans shouting “Diallo,” a name Amad dropped after a 2021 trafficking case in Italy, where he was fined £42,000 for issues involving false documents.
United lost 1-0 to the ASEAN All-Stars, with Amad playing in the second half, and they will conclude their tour against Hong Kong on Friday.

Manchester Evening News chief football writer Samuel Luckhurst said: “I hadn’t seen it as it’s so minor but some online fans appear to be unhappy with Amad after his gesture towards some fans when he was leaving the United team hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
“We have been informed he received some abuse on his departure and reacted to it.”
