Mitrovic absolutely bodies Henderson before rinsing van Dijk

Aleksandar Mitrovic absolutely bodies Jordan Henderson before rinsing Virgil van Dijk with footage going viral very quickly.

The Serbian striker led the line superbly, helping Fulham to an impressive 2-2 draw at Craven Cottage, and even bagged a brace upon his return to the Premier League, silencing the doubters.

He caused Trent Alexander-Arnold havoc to score a far post header that opened the scoring, before he won and buried a penalty in the second.

During one passage of play, a loose ball dropped on the edge of the box, and there was Mitrovic getting first onto it, producing a smile on Marco Silva’s face.

Hendo challenged him but ended up getting thrown to the floor after feeling the strength of Mitrovic who was unstoppable.

He was went head to head with Van Dijk, who is widely deemed to be the best one-vs-one defender in world football, yet was unsuccessful in getting the ball of the Championship winner who had never dribbled past him until the weekend.

The former Newcastle player had Van Dijk on strings, before producing what has been described as a gorgeous Cruyff turn and then fed Andreas Pereira down on the left side.

Mitrovic had Van Dijk scrambling later in the game and forced the former Southampton man into giving away a penalty.

He twisted and turned inside the area, which led to a challenge that brought the penalty Mitrovic converted to put his side 2-1 up.

Mo Salah continued his record of scoring on every opening weekend in the Premier League by getting Liverpool’s second equaliser with ten minutes to go.

However the game belonged to Mitrovic and will be hoping this will be the season he finally does the business after hitting a staggering 43 goals in Fulham’s promotion from the second tier last term.

@DeloraineFFC:
💪🏼 World Class from Mitrovic on Saturday
🔥🔥 First PL player to draw a penalty from Virgil Leaky Dijk
🔥🔥Won 11 headers 2 less than the entire Liverpool team
🔥🔥Scored twice leaving him 7 goals short of total scored by entire team at home in our previous PL campaign #ffc

@scott_tanfield: I get it’s only one game, but from what I see of Mitrovic yesterday, he can 100% cut in the Premier League. Liverpool couldn’t handle him yesterday, and his game has improved so much under Silva. In his prime at 27, feed him and he will score #FFC #FulhamFC

@antzhumbleent: Aleksandr Mitrovic steamrolled #LFC today. Gave both Matip and VVD the runaround all game. A terrific target-man forward, who as his manager says, if you provide him with opportunities he WILL score goals. Deceptively skilful too, big season for him. #FFC #FULLIV

@ABronsSmith: So many people claiming Mitrovic couldn’t do it in the prem. Turns out, he’s just pocketed one of the leagues best ever defenders. #FFC

@HugoNicholls1: Mitrovic was questioned at this level, but the premier league top goal scorer’s class is permanent #COYW

@ItZz_JakeYT: Mitrovic looks class just holding off Liverpool defenders and clinical finishing really leading the team well.

@1882Ebs: Mitrovic leading the line superbly the day. If Fulham play like that this season they’ll easily stay up. Unreal from them 🔥

@bytheriver1879: Mitrovic genuinely made Virgil van Dijk look like Virgil van Mike today. Unbelievable performance 🔥 #ffc

@joereecedrums: Can we take a minute to appreciate how different a player Mitrovic is under Marco Silva!? he’s absolutely class. #FFC
