Alisson (LIV)
“The number of players he’s been one-on-one with, and no one could get past him. He’s one of the reasons why Liverpool have achieved what they have this season.”

Trent Alexander-Arnold (LIV)
“A forward’s dream. The crosses and the chances he has created have just been phenomenal.”

Virgil van Dijk (LIV)
“It’s no surprise Liverpool struggled without him last season. He’s been a tower defensively again for them.”

Ruben Dias (MCI)
“He’s been big, commanding, strong and, again, one of the reasons why Manchester City have been so good and so reliable.”

Joao Cancelo (MCI)
“Assists, involvements, defending, you name it. He’s been at the heart of everything good Man City have done.”

Declan Rice (WHU)
“He’s not just a sitting midfielder. He’s proved this season he can burst forward and can get on the end of things. He’s had a magnificent season.”

Kevin De Bruyne (MCl)
“He had to be in there with his form again, with his assists and goals, and his standout performances.”

Bernardo Silva (MCI)
“Trickery, skill, attitude, all of those things. Not the biggest of guys but he has the heart of a lion and has been magnificent again.”

Mohamed Salah (LIV)
“No surprise that I’m going to pick him. He’s been superb. His goals again have often carried Liverpool at times.”

Sadio Mane (LIV)
“The year he’s had, internationally and for his club, he’s been absolutely phenomenal. He’s one of the reasons why Liverpool have been fighting on all fronts.”

Son Heung-min (TOT)
“Goals, assists, his link-up play with Harry Kane and the understanding he has with him. Son had to be in my team.”

Manager: Jurgen Klopp (LIV)
“For Liverpool to have been within a chance of winning all four trophies in May, it had to be Klopp.”

Honourable mention: Jarrod Bowen (WHU)
“I really wanted to put him in my team because of his goals and assists. When you compare his form to some of the other England players then he deserves to be in that squad.”

You can also watch a video of him talking through his choices, who impressed him and who deserved an honourable mention by clicking HERE.

Keeping on the theme, we check out how accurate 20 BBC Sport pundits were at predicting how the Prem top four would finish?

Fans reacted as Alan Shearer reveals his 2021/22 Premier League Team of the Season…

@tommy5times: First sensible one I’ve seen

@kre_______: Rice over Rodri ?

@kayode_tevi: Matip so underrated

@R9Joey: No Joelinton, not my Legend

@archiefletch5: L unfortunately Alan, No joelinton🤷🏽‍♂️

@UtdJ4Y: Ronaldo deserves to be in that team + Son isn’t a ST so Mane makes way for Son

@Boladinho_01: Kane instead

@pkxthfc: Thank god Kane will humiliated your goal record you deserve it

@thfc_ishan: Switch Son and Mane and put Kane in, Mane doesn’t deserve it.

@Utd_winning: Rice 😂

@kfgwhufc: There is a reason why he’s in every pundits team of the season

@Chrisstirland03: Surprisingly pretty accurate

@Rowan_m17: Lmao Rodri is probably the most disrespected footballer in the league

@n_c_sathya:
Rodri in for Rice, Dias out for Matip/Rudiger
Also Son LW, Kane or Ronaldo ST

@Excelsiormcfc: This Laporte disrespect.

@PhiIFodenSZN: Rice is so overrated, English bias is real

@17menzies17: Rice is a bang average player, and if he was English he wouldn’t be mentioned half as much. No game have I watched and went he is a good player. In his position he isn’t in the top 5 in England never mind the world

@Whu__charlie: Rodri should be there but atleast they didn’t forget to add Rice 🍚

@canceloimpact: The mad disrespect to Rodri

@McfcChriss: must be the most underrated player in the premier league.

@cfcmaxez: Rodri? Silva? Bowen? Terrible ball knowledge

@BrezThfc: I literally don’t know how Rice gets in everyone’s team of the season. Genuinely what has he done this season?

@jay_UTD7:
How is Dias fruading his way into these team of the seasons.
He wasn’t even the best CB in his team.
Both Matip and Laporte were better

@NUFCcook: Jeff Hendrick unlucky to miss out #nufc

@Eclairs___: Rice? Declan Rice? Erm okay what about Rodri over him? And what is Dias doing there? Rudi or Matip over him imo. And why is Ronaldo not there? Same as Kane?

@jamemcfc9: All perfect except rice quality player but Rodri in there for me

@mista_dennis: It’s clear Reece James is not above Trent in both attack and defence. The thing is Trent is about to appear in the same number of UCL finals as Chelsea and he’s just 23 years old

@Tonye_TMS: Best team I’ve seen so far but Rodri has to be there and Ronaldo over mane

@Ce59rt: Rüdiger and Silva were way better than Dias

@ReIiableRodri: Rice over Rodri 🤡🤡🤡 And Klopp, for what? I still haven’t heard anyone articulate anything that makes it make sense. You’d do lightyears better picking Conte, Arteta or even Vieira over him. But the manager of the season is Pep Guardiola. No contest.

@TravelandCOYS: Kane is literally the best all-round forward the PL will ever see yet he doesn’t play for City or Liverpool so…
