Yes, you read that headline right, Emmanuel Adebayor is reportedly in line for a shock Premier League return.
The team the former Arsenal, Man City, Crystal Palace and Tottenham striker is said to be linked with is Aston Villa with Dean Smith’s side currently sitting 17th in the Premier League table.
The Daily Mail report how Villa are struggling for goals this season, and are now replying on Jack Grealish with £22million signing Wesley making many an underwhelming performance. Now the Brazilian has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury, leaving Smith short of strikers.
Smith also only has Jonathan Kodjia available up front, and he’s also getting slammed heavily by fans on social media for putting on an awful display this season.
The Sun also suggest that the free agent is identified by Villa as a possible destination after leaving Turkish side Kayserispor last month.
It’s added that his advisers are hoping that because of Premier League experience, it might be enough for Villa to take a gamble on him as a cheap option, allowing them to also target another forward in a loan or small cash deal in the transfer window.
In the summer of 2019, it was reported that West Ham, Sheffield United and Watford were keen on signing him, however Kayserispor snapped him up on a one-year contract, then he departed in December.
He is still playing international football at 36 years old, in March 2019, he was selected for Togo’s decisive 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualification match against Benin.

No thx he had his chance once before and turned us down. His work rate is also terrible. Villa fans wouldn’t accept that.
