It was in the 98th minute when Jack Nolan netted a injury-time winner for 10-man Accrington against Harrogate.
Stanley dominated in terms of chances throughout the first half, before breaking the deadlock after 28 minutes when they were given a free kick due to a foul on Whalley, McConville sending the ball into the top corner from 25 yards.
Harrogate came very close to a leveller in the first half after goalkeeper Toby Savin prevented Luke Armstrong’s effort.
In the second half, Harrogate keeper Mark Oxley saved chances from Whalley and Josh Andrews before the hosts saw defender Seb Quirk handed a red card on the 82nd minute having picked up two yellow cards, the resulting free kick met Luke Armstrong’s head, for it to be turned into the net by Warren Burrell.
Whalle also saw his overhead kick hit the post, before Nolan made no mistake with his free kick from 30 yards out.
John Coleman spoke on Accrington’s win as per Lancashire Telegraph: “I am absolutely delighted. Some wins enthral you more than others and today was one of them.
“I think for most of the game we were the better team, we took the game to them but in the second half we took our foot off the gas but Toby Savin still didn’t have a save to make in the second half and they scored from a set-piece. We are usually good at defending them.
“They were two excellent free-kicks for our goals. I can’t take the credit for putting Jack Nolan on as I was going to put someone else on and shore it up but Jimmy Bell (assistant) told me to put Jack on so he deserves a pat on the back.
“Shaun Whalley was outstanding, Rosaire Longelo was magnificent and Seamus Conneely ran himself into the ground and we will need everyone.
“That’s seven points out of 12 and it’s nice to do well at home. I want to us entertain the fans and get the feel-good factor back.”

Didn’t know they had invisible walls at Accrington’s ground. They should install them everywhere, they clearly work 🤣 pic.twitter.com/OnCkfhqkgA
