The 25 best players in the Premier League this season according to stats has been revealed and it’s certainly caused a stir on social media.

We’re right in the second half of the current campaign and as we look towards the end, with the PFA Player of the Year awards also set to be announced, we figure out who could win it based on average rating statistics provided by WhoScored.com…

25. Jordan Henderson – 7.19

Henderson is the current favourite to win the Player of the Year award after playing what many would say a big part to Liverpool‘s incredible season. According to the statistics he’s been good, but not that good.

24. Son Heung-min – 7.23

Son has had another solid season, scoring seven times and recorded seven assists for Spurs, who have had a slightly more disappointing season than the one previous.

23. Raheem Sterling – 7.25

Sterling has struggled more this second part of the season after a strong start. He hasn’t contributed to a goal in his last five Premier League games, eek.

22. Willian – 7.26

Willian is described as the scapegoat for Chelsea fans. Though his stats this season show that is undeserved.

21. John McGinn – 7.26

McGinn, much loved at Villa Park, was arguably Aston Villa’s best player up until he suffered a broken ankle in December. Speedy recovery lad!

20. Richarlison – 7.28

Richarlison is easily Everton’s best player. So much so that Sky Sports ran a story claiming the Toffees rejected an £85m from Barcelona for him. He’s scored eight goals and recorded four assists this season.

19. Serge Aurier – 7.29

Aurier is a liability defensively, some would say, but his good work in his attack means he’s rated highly.

18. Harry Kane – 7.30

Kane notched 11 goals before picking up a ruptured tendon in his left hamstring. Quite clearly, Spurs are missing him badly up front. Got to pray he’ll just make it back in time for Euro 2020.

17. Sergio Aguero – 7.30

Aguero is averaging a goal every 73 minutes this season. Despite being a few months away from becoming 32, the Argentine is in the form of his life and is a vital part to Pep Guardiola’s side.

16. Raul Jimenez – 7.31

Jimenez has already scored 11 times in what has been another stellar campaign. So much so that several teams in the so called big six are eyeing him up.

15. Jamie Vardy – 7.32

Vardy was unstoppable in the first half of the season, scoring 17 times in Leicester’s first 18 games. Even fans demanded that he was brought back to the England team. What is rather worrying however it that hasn’t scored in his last five appearances.

14. Emiliano Buendia – 7.32

Norwich’s chances of staying up aren’t looking too good. one player we’re sure won’t be with them should they go down is Buendia.

13. Marcus Rashford – 7.34

Rashford was another player in the form of his life, scoring 14 goals in his opening 22 Premier League games this season. Unfortunately for Man Utd, he then suffered a serious injury, was recently subbed on in an FA Cup clash against Wolves, which certainly didn’t do him any favours as he had to be taken off.

12. Trent Alexander-Arnold – 7.37

Alexander-Arnold has 10 assists in England’s top tier this season, the second most of anyone in the league.

11. Roberto Firmino – 7.37

Firmino is having another steady season, having directly contributed to 15 Premier League goals.

10. James Maddison – 7.41

Maddison’s form has dipped in recent weeks, but he’s still been in the top 10 best Premier League players this season.

9. Jack Grealish – 7.42

There’s a big debate on who’s better out of Grealish and Maddison at the moment. It’s very close, but the statistics think Grealish just edges it.

8. Virgil van Dijk – 7.42

Van Dijk has been a rock at the back again this season. he’s helped Liverpool to 11 clean sheets and the best defensive record in the Premier League.

7. Wilfried Ndidi – 7.43

Ndidi has missed three Premier League games this season. In those games, Leicester have not recorded a single win.

6. Mohamed Salah – 7.50

After a tough start, Salah has still managed 14 goals and six assists in 22 Premier League games.

5. Sadio Mane – 7.51

With 11 goals and six assists, Mane is a real contender for the PFA Player of the Year award.

4. Ricardo Pereira – 7.54

Pereira must have been good this season to easily better Alexander-Arnold’s rating. The Portuguese full-back has excelled both in defence and attack.

3. Riyad Mahrez – 7.59

Mahrez isn’t even a guaranteed starter at Manchester City. With a goal or assist every 90 minutes this season, Pep Guardiola might be convinced to give him even more game time.

2. Adama Traore – 7.75

Traore has added end product to his game this season. He’s one of the most dangerous wingers in the world at the moment.

1. Kevin De Bruyne – 7.90

De Bruyne’s numbers this season are just silly. With 15 assists, he’s on course to shatter the record for the most assists in a Premier League campaign. He’s also scored seven goals.
