Spennymoor Town boss Graeme Lee said, as per BBC Sport, that everyone at the club is “excited” as they await the draw for the FA Trophy semi-finals.

The National League North side are 90 minutes away from a Wembley final on the 11th of May after winning 2-0 at Sutton United – an EFL club last season – in the last eight.

The County Durham outfit are the only club from outside the National League in the semis, with Aldershot Town, Woking and Rochdale the other three sides left.

“We’re excited, we’ve proven that home or away, we can go anywhere and get a result,” Lee said to BBC Radio Tees.

“It’s fantastic for everyone at the club, and one more game.”

Spennymoor, who currently sit 12th in the National League North, have never got to this stage of the competition before, however they have won the FA Vase, beating Tunbridge Wells in 2013.

Spenny then won two automatic promotions via the playoffs to reach the National League North (6th tier) by 2017, and have managed to stay there ever since, quite the rise considering they were in the Northern League Division Two (10th tier) in 2006/07.

Spennymoor said ahead of the draw for the semis on Monday lunchtimeL “If you want to get to the semi-finals, you have to go to places like Sutton and get a result.

“Now we’re back to the school run on Monday and listening to the draw.

“For our club to be challenging like that, it’s fantastic. We want these days for the fans and we want moments like this as we move forward.”
