The FA Cup Second Round Proper draw is here and we’ve got it in full and live as they get drawn out tie by tie this Sunday evening.
Kettering Town, currently top of the Southern League – Premier Central, achieved a remarkable 2-1 victory over local rivals Northampton Town.
Richard Lavery’s team initially fell behind due to an own goal by Connor Johnson, but Luca Miller levelled the scoreline in the 66th minute, pushing the match into extra time.
Just four minutes into the additional 30 minutes, ex-Newcastle player Nile Ranger headed home the winner that resulted in a memorable win for the Poppies.
Eighth-tier Harborough Town also had a day to remember, delivering an outstanding performance, defeating Tonbridge Angels and advancing to the second round for the first time in their history.
A double from Ben Stephens, along with goals from Paul Malone and Daniel Forbes sent the Leicestershire team into the draw for Monday, eliminating their opponents from the higher division.
In a thrilling encounter between the two lowest-ranked teams remaining in the competition, eighth-tier Hednesford Town ended regulation and extra time tied at 4-4 with Gainsborough Trinity, who ultimately triumphed in the penalty shootout. It was marred with some fans on the pitch and scuffles breaking out. See more on that HERE.
Non league sides Wealdstone, Oldham Athletic, and Dagenham & Redbridge all achieved victories against EFL teams.
Stevenage narrowly avoided an upset; after finishing 1-1 in extra time, they prevailed in a penalty shootout against non-league Guiseley, with Jameel Ible’s missed penalty proving decisive.
Harrogate of League Two also produced a surprised by beating the favourites and league above Wrexham 1-0.
