The Hednesford v Gainsborough FA Cup match had temporarily been suspended as fans invade the pitch and scuffles break out.
A 95th minute thunderbolt from Will Lancaster led to the Gainsborough fans spilling onto the pitch and Hednesford fans also entered, with the teams being taken off.
Gainsborough had come from 3-0 down to level at 3-3 but a pitch invasion followed with opposing fans briefly clashing. Play was suspended by the referee with two more minutes left to play.
The game soon resumed, Hednesford, who were the lowest-ranked side remaining in the competition, made it 4-3 in the 96th minute through Dominic McHale, before Javelle Clark levelled on the 110th minute, with penalties needed to settle this one.
Hednesford were looking to book their first trip to the second round in over 25 years, just a day after Steve King was sacked following what the club called “a breakdown in the relationship” with the former first-team boss.
Gainsborough however were the ones to come out victorious, winning 5-4 and booked a place in second round for the first time in 72 years. Highlights below…
