The biggest surprise of the round, you could say, came at Bracknell Town, thanks to a dramatic late winner which stunned Dagenham & Redbridge and booked the 7th tier club’s place in the FA Cup first round proper for the second year in a row.

It was in the 94th minute that the deadlock broke, a big shock was Ben Strevens’ out-of-form National League visitors live on the BBC.

The Daggers who currently sit 54 places higher than Bracknell in the English football pyramid, had started the game the brighter side.

Conor Lawless, Josh Hare, Frank Vincent and Inih Effiong came close for Dagenham, who were looking to extend their recent record of reaching the second round in two of the last three years, while also hoping for their first win in nine matches. Unfortunately for them, that run of dismal form continued and their hopes of FA Cup progression came to an immediate end.

Here’s how fans on Twitter reacted to the FA Cup First Round Proper draw…

@ThomasFeaheny:
Some good ties in the FA Cup 1st Round, in terms of TV games, standout ones for me are:
Chesterfield v Portsmouth
Hereford v Gillingham
Charlton Athletic v Cray Valley (Paper Mills)
Marine v Harrogate Town
Barnsley v Horsham
Stockport County v Worksop Town
