We look at the 2025/26 National League, North, South title winners, playoffs and relegations confirmed now the regular season is over.
There was so much at stake in all three leagues, the title and the playoffs. National League North also needed relegation deciding.
We start with the National League title battle, going into it, Stuart Maynard’s York City were on 107 points, needing a draw to win the title and a return to League Two after 10 seasons away, while victory for Jimmy McNulty’s Rochdale, on 105 points, would see them leapfrog the Minstermen and take win it on the final day.
You’ll have to read this to relive the drama that unfolded. Pure chaos.
York win National League title with 103rd minute equaliser after Rochdale scored in 95th minute
AFC Fylde have been promoted as the National League North champions, Craig Mahon’s side won 4-2 away at Merthyr, ending the season with 100 points from 46 games, 32 wins, 4 draws, 10 defeats, 112 goals for, 51 goals against, a goal difference of +61 and are 5 points clear of 2nd place South Shields who lost 1-0 against 3rd place Kidderminster.
Alfreton Town and Curzon Ashton have both been relegated from the National League North after they played out a 3-3 draw. In the end Curzon were relegated on goal difference.
Worthing have been promoted as champions of the National League South after a 2-0 win against Ebbsfleet, who miss out on the playoffs. Adam Hinshelwood’s side end on 84 points from 46 games played, 25 wins, 9 draws, 12 defeats, 99 goals for, 52 goals against, and a +47 goal difference, as well as 3 points ahead of 2nd place Hornchurch, who drew 0-0 to Maidenhead, who do manage to get the last playoff place.

Worthing boss Adam Hinshelwood said per Sussex Express: “It hasnβt sunk it yet. Thereβs been a lot of heartache over the years having come so close on a number of occasions.
“Iβm so chuffed for everyone that works so hard behind the scenes β obviously George, Barry, Ralph, Nathan, Keith, yourselves (the media team) β and for all the supporters for sticking with us β we had a real tough patch in January and this didnβt seem possible.
“Iβm so glad the players turned up today and if anything we could have made it more emphatic on the day.
“Weβre going to really enjoy it (the celebrations) tonight β thatβs for sure. With the early kick-off, it starts earlier!
“The tricky patch we had I think makes it even sweeter.β
On Joe Cook and Razz Coleman De-Graft: βWe were encouraging Cooky yesterday β we felt there was an opportunity for him to get forward more. And he did that and got his goal.
“Then Razz was superb all day. His numbers this season have been phenomenal β what a player weβve got on our hands.
“Iβm so chuffed for the players because theyβre a really really good group of people first and foremost, they work tirelessly.
“And all the backroom staff β Stretch, Olly, Cam, Jon Meeney, Stu, all of them, Brooksy as well β they give up so much time. Iβm probably missing one or two β sorry if Iβve missed you! The dedication they show, the professional in their work β Iβm so chuffed they get to enjoy today.”
On York’s promotion, having missed out with them last season: “Their fans have suffered a lot over the years and Iβm so, so chuffed β thereβs no bitterness from me β Iβm so glad they got over the line as well. It makes it even sweeter.β
π¬ “I am so chuffed for everyone behind the scenes.”
