Non League

2 champions, 3 relegated, one of them down for first time in club’s history

It’s been another eventful few days of football in Non League as two clubs have been crowned champions but also three ending up getting relegated.

We’ll start with those who won their league, the first being Peterborough Sports of the Southern League Division One Central.

It is their third title in four seasons, now just three promotions from the Football League and were a United Counties Division One side just four seasons ago.

Next up to be crowned champions were Blackfield & Langley who themselves are on an incredible rise through the leagues.

The Southern League Division One South side yesterday confirmed a back to back promotion after winning the Wessex League Premier Division last season.

To the relegations now and another four teams had that validated.

Weston-super-Mare went down for the first time in their history as they lost 2-0 against Hampton & Richmond to confirm they won’t be playing in the National League South next season.

They have been given a reprieve on three previous occasions (2007, 2008 and 2010).

Workington have been relegated from the Northern Premier League Premier Division after being defeated 3-2 by Buxton.

Lastly, St Neots Town had their fate confirmed, becoming the third and final club from the Southern League Premier Central to be relegated.
