We continue our look at unemployed managers to be putting pressure or links with Championship jobs…
NIGEL ADKINS
Last in charge of: HULL CITY
In the last 24 hours, Nigel Adkins has become the new favourite to take over as manager of Huddersfield Town after they were snubbed by Lincoln City’s Danny Cowley.
Adkins resigned from his role as manager of Hull City in June 2019 stating that his and the club’s futures were “not aligned”.
Since then he has been featured in the bookies’ odds list for jobs at Huddersfield and Doncaster.
Could he be on his way to the Terriers?
ALAN PARDEW
Last in charge of: WEST BROM
Alan Pardew has been without a job since April 2018 and since then stayed relatively quiet in where is future lies next.
It hasn’t stopped the former Palace, Newcastle, Southampton, Charlton, West Ham and Reading boss from featuring in the bookies lists for other managerial jobs. He’s been favourites for Brighton and Huddersfield.
GIOVANNI VAN BRONCKHORST
Last in charge of: FEYENOORD
Giovanni van Bronckhorst is a former player for Feyenoord, Rangers, Arsenal, Barcelona and the Netherlands, but since retiring in 2010, he’s been assisting the Dutch under-21 team and Feyenoord before becoming the latter side’s manager in May 2015.
He won the KNVB Cup in his first season and the club’s first Eredivisie title for 18 years in 2017.
Two months ago he was linked with the Sheffield Wednesday manager’s job and it wouldn’t be surprising if others have been looking at him also.
SOL CAMPBELL
Last in charge of: MACCLESFIELD TOWN
Sol Campbell had his first managerial spell for the Silkmen, but after eight months in charge, he resigned from the role.
In that time he miraculously guided the club to safety with a run of two defeats in their final 10 games despite financial issues behind the scenes of Macclesfield, meaning he wasn’t paid for three to four months.
He started the 2019/20 season with them, and impressive form saw him take them to eight in the League Two table with three points after two games.
Since then he’s been linked with jobs at Huddersfield Town and Bolton Wanderers.
