YouTuber Ellis Platten rallies fans to fill non league ground and break league record attendance

YouTuber Ellis Platten rallies fans to fill another non league ground and hope to break a league record attendance.

Earlier this year, they made a similar kind of video, getting fans to turn up at Witham v Gorleston, with 1,205 fans turning up for it. A big success.

But now, Ellis Platten is attempting to break a league record attendance of 1,000, with Wellesley Stadium, the home of Great Yarmouth Town, hosting two games on the 24th of October 2026.

Ellis said in his YouTube video: “On the 7th of March 2026, we made history. This community brought over 1,200 fans to a non-league team’s football match and broke their record attendance. We are history makers. It was a brilliant day. If I’m being honest, one of the best days of my life.

“And you know what? We’re going again, but this time we’re going bigger and we’re going better, but it’s also going to be way harder.

“I need every single one of you to keep October the 24th free in your diaries because this time I’ve came home to Great Yarmouth. This is where I grew up. This is where my family lived. Like this is where I was born.

“Like this place means so much to me, but it’s also out of the way completely. Like it’s quite difficult to get to. But more than anything, I want to give back to this place in the community. Like I love the fact I’m from Yarmouth.

“But you’re probably thinking, Ellis, how could this possibly get bigger than last time? Well, that’s because this time we’re not doing just one game, we’re doing two.

“We’re currently sat in the world’s oldest football stand. This stand is the oldest in world football. We’re at the Wellesley Stadium, the home of Great Yarmouth Town, and this stand was built in 1892 and still remains. This is the oldest stand anywhere in the world.

“However, we’re here to break records, aren’t we? Great Yarmouth Town’s record attendance is 8,944 spectators for their FA Cup game against Crystal Palace. We’re not going to beat that.

“However, we can beat an entire league pyramid’s best ever attendance. And that’s where game two comes in. Here’s how the day is going to work.

“Game one will be Great Yarmouth Town against Stowmarket Town, Stowmarket Town are the club where we became the pigs. And that’ll be kicking off at 1:00pm. Game one, 1:00pm, Great Yarmouth, Stowmarket, the battle of the pigs.

“And game two will be AC Mill Lane against Shrublands kicking off at the same stadium at 4:00pm. And a little fun fact is AC Mill Lane have got three new players signed to their squad for the game. The pigs are in the AC Mill Lane squad for the game. (Ellis) Platten, (Alfie) Indra, (Ben) Gibbs will be playing.

“Anyway, the record we’re looking to break is the record attendance for the Anglian Combination League, which is the league system that Mill Lane play in. It’s the feeder league from Norfolk and the areas for that part of the English football pyramid.

“The record attendance for the Anglian Combination Leagues is 1,000, which Watton United got against Norwich City in 1985, which means we have the chance to break a record attendance, which has been held for over 40 years. The money we can make for the day for the clubs involved is huge. To be clear, once again, we get nothing of the money that’s being made. It goes to both Mill Lane and Great Yarmouth Town. We see nothing of it. We can help out these clubs for the future massively.

“And here’s how you can get involved. Most importantly, use the ticket link in the video’s description and buy your ticket to secure your place. Your ticket gets you access to both games. Adults are a tenner. Anyone under the age of 18 or over 65 is £5. You get two games of football for that.

“On the day, we’ll be meeting at the North Drive car park just opposite the stadium at 11:00a.m. We’re going to do a congregation of pigs at 11:00 a.m. on game day. So, make sure to be there if you want to. You can also just turn up to both the games at 1 or 4 if you wish.

“For updates and questions about the day, please join the discord in this video’s description as well. I’ll providing updates and all information you need in that discord as I did with the Witham video. I appreciate Great Yarmouth if it’s harder to get to than Witham video, but if we can do over a thousand people and break a record again, I will be like blown away.

Non league club left ‘blown away’ after YouTuber’s appeal to fans sets record attendance

“It will be huge for us, but more importantly, it’ll be huge for both teams. Imagine being a player for AC Mill Lane and playing in front of a thousand people. We have the chance to make a real difference to these people and the clubs as well and the local community. Let’s see what we can do as a community again together. Let’s smash this up the away days. Let’s do it.”

“Yes, guys. I’m just going to say at the end here, we are trying to beat the amateur record for a league game.

“Obviously, the friendly against Norwich was a thousand. There’s probably other attendances which are bigger as well, but they weren’t in league games. So, if we can beat over a thousand, we’ve definitely beaten the Anglian Combination Leagues Division’s record.

“But, I will level with you all that I’m absolutely terrified that no one would turn up. I will be honest, it’s not the easiest place to get to in the world and it is also a place that means everything to me and I appreciate that it will be difficult for us to do this but if we can do it it would be so so special to do this again for another place another community. We’ll be raising money for great y of town the team that need it.

“We’re going to be bringing a huge attendance to their game and then also AC Mil Lane a grassroots team of that level will never see a chance to gets money like this again I don’t think like it is such a special thing we’re able to pull up here if we can do it.

“So, please, please, I’m so proud of this community and I can’t wait to see what we can do here. Get your tickets for October the 24th. Let’s do this. Let’s make history again. And I’m sure it’ll an amazing day.”
