‘Yer nan thinks she’s Pep Guardiola’ – Luton fan tries giving ‘tactical instructions’ to players

One Luton fan has gone viral on Sunday afternoon as she tries giving ‘tactical instructions’ to her team’s players against Man City.

The three second clip was uploaded to social media, getting over 47,000 likes in under an hour, helping the tweet on the over one millions views too.

It came during the first half, with the woman stood up out of her seat, and was caught by Sky Sports cameras gesturing with her hands as the Luton player tried to take a throw in.

But it was also her priceless reaction of being ignored that had viewers in stitches, before she proceeds to sit back down.

There was plenty riding on this Premier League fixture, a much anticipated game for Rob Edwards’ Luton side who welcomed the reigning champions having put on a good performance against Arsenal, only to suffer a late blow when Declan Rice netted a stoppage time winner in midweek.

And once again, Luton caused a surprise, despite Pep Guardiola’s side dominating from kick-off, with Elijah Adebayo heading Luton into lead over Man City just before the break.

Sky Sports’ Alan Smith: “They have found a way and what a fantastic way it was!

“They have found a way and what a fantastic way it was!

“It was all about the quality of the cross. He picked his spot beautifully.

“Totally against the run of play, totally against the expected…”

Sky Sports’ Sam Blitz at Kenilworth Road: “Luton were denied with the last kick of the second half against Arsenal on Tuesday. They’ve scored with the last kick of the first half against Man City.

“I’m sitting on the Kenilworth Road gantry and it was shaking when Adebayo crashed home at the far post. What a cross from Townsend by the way.

“A shock on the cards here. Not just a shock, perhaps the biggest in Premier League history.”

Nathan Jones (Former Luton manager speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live): “Wonderful. Luton have size, aggression, power, they can cause problems. For all of City’s dominance, they haven’t been able to do that.

“It is important Luton survive the first 10 minutes (of the second half). They will be vital.

“We’ve made a lot of City’s injuries and not many teams would deal with losing Kevin de Bruyne, Erling Haaland and Jeremy Doku. They are the game changers.”

The 59th minute saw Nathan Ake slide a low ball into the box, only for it to be blocked by Brown, then the ball came back to Ake, who found Dias to hit a strike from 10 yards out, keeper Kaminski managed to brilliantly tip it onto the crossbar.

Then came the inevitable, Bernardo Silva levelling the scoreline a minute later, after Rodri drove into the box, Lockyer blocked him off, the ball fell to Silva on his left foot from 15 yards and sent it into the bottom corner.

Just like that, it was 2-1 Man City, Luton tried to play out, Mengi lost out to Alvarez, then came the counter attack, Luton felt there was a handball, Pep pointed out it struck the face, Foden sent the ball across goal for Grealish to fire home.

Luton fans booed, shouted ‘cheat cheat cheat’, then belted out ‘2-1 to the referee’ and ‘you don’t know what you’re doing’ in minutes the proceeded.

Sky Sports’ Sam Blitz at Kenilworth Road: “Luton want a handball on Alvarez, but it looks more like chest. Mengi just waited at the back post and that allowed Grealish in.”

Nathan Jones – On the first goal: “What a wonderful finish. The form that Thomas Kaminski has been in, it was always going to take something special.”

Nathan Jones – On the second goal: “That is the quality Man City have got. Luton cannot lose their heads.”

The 70th minute saw a VAR check. for a red card on Brown for going in recklessly on Foden, however, it wasn’t deemed enough to be serious foul play or dangerous.

Luton kept on pushing right until the end for an equaliser, but it never came.

Nathan Jones – “Luton pushed the champions right to the limit but City showed their class. They’ve shown a different side to them.”
