Yeovil’s Sean McGurk goes viral with ridiculous goal with fans calling it Puskas Award contender

Yeovil’s Sean McGurk goes viral with a ridiculous wonder goal with fans calling it an Puskas Award contender, it really needs to be seen.

Sean McGurk’s spectacular first half strike was cancelled out by Aaron Cosgrave’s finish in a National League match that saw plenty of drama but yet another game with Yeovil dropping points.

But footage of it has since been uploaded online, getting thousands of likes and views, as well as retweets from Twitter accounts across the world.

McGurk spoke to the club media after the game…

Interviewer: Sean, first congratulations on the goal but what your thoughts after the the full 90, well what was 104.

Sean: Yeah the same really as well that was my fourth game now and I think we’ve dominated every game I’ve played in and the results haven’t been what we deserved. We know we need to stop conceding the same type of goals you know just week in week out but on the other hand we we need to to be more we need to punish the the opposition more and you know score more more goals so it works both ways but we’ve just got to stick together keep going and I’m sure the three points will will come

Interviewer: And let’s about your goal because what a beauty, talk me through what was going through your head when you know you turned your man and set yourself and there you go

Sean: Yeah like you said just turned obviously see the other man try to get it past him and then just hit it and look it went in off the post so

Interviewer: Score got many of those or

Sean: No not really but you know we take them so yeah

Interviewer: What are your personal ambitions throughout your time here at Yeovil and for your time here at Yeovil, do you have any kind of personal goals

Sean: Yeah I think the the main one I said that when I first come in was you know game time and and regular minutes and I’ve got that and you know personally I just want to keep building and and show people what I can do regularly and hopefully since I’ve come in I’ve done that and I want to continue doing that um week in week out and like I said I’m positive that we will start in result round and getting the wins that that we’ve deserved since I have come in and yeah the sooner we can do that the better

Interviewer: How has it been mixing in with the boys as well I don’t know if you’ve seen any kind of familiar faces that you may have seen be up and down the football pyramid

Sean: Yeah no I come in and I didn’t know anyone obviously it helped coming in so late at Christmas and we’ve had so many games as well so you know that constant you’ve got no time to really settle in the sense of like you’ve just got to get straight at it and you know get in with the group and all the lads, it’s a brilliant group and yeah like I said I’ve really enjoyed it and I just want to continue though

Interviewer: And fairly quick turn around to Friday what can you do specifically between now and Friday to get you game ready?

Sean: Yeah I think just the same as Saturday obviously we’ve got two days so we’ve just got a rest, we’ve got a long journey back now but we’ve just got to rest we and go again Friday and hopefully get get the three points that we’ve deserved

Swindon boss Ian Holloway spoke of how much he admired McGurk’s when coming into the club, talking, per Swindon Advertiser, about his ability and decision to go out on loan: “He knows exactly what I want him to do and if I see him do it then he might be back in, that is not a problem.

“If you go and play and go and show people what you can do then things might get better for you, like Sean McGurk has done.

“He is opening up a whole can of worms for himself by agreeing and thinking ‘I don’t care if it is Yeovil, I will go and show you what I can do’ and that is a wonderful thing to do.”

@luongodinho: A better quality version of Sean’s screamer last night. I feel like he needs to have a free role to unlock his full ability. Sadly, not really the type of player you can afford to carry in a relegation fight and where #stfc are at right now. Love him tho, hope it works out.
