Yeovil appoint highly rated 7th tier manager with message from owner to concerned fans

Yeovil Town appoint highly rated 7th tier manager Billy Rowley with a message from owner Prabhu Srinivasan to concerned fans.

This comes after supporters called for change having seen their side go winless in eight and a fourth game in a row without scoring after missing a late penalty against Morecambe at the weekend..

Frustration grew following their goalless draw, leaving Yeovil 17th in the National League with 21 points from 20 games played, 4 points above the drop zone.

But now they have brought in Billy Rowley, who had been manager of Southern League – Premier South leaders Walton & Hersham, with 41 points from 16 games played.

As seen in the graphic below, out of the 76 games he has managed them, 67% of them his side have won, with there 2.42 goals per game.

YEOVIL STATEMENT:

Yeovil Town Football Club are delighted to announce the appointment of highly rated manager Billy Rowley as First-Team Manager, signing a deal that runs until the end of the 2027/28 season.

Rowley arrives at Huish Park with a growing reputation across the English game, having recently attracted interest from several National League and League Two clubs. He has built an impressive coaching cv, working within some of the countryโ€™s most respected academies, including Chelsea, Fulham, and Millwall, where he developed a reputation for talent development, tactical detail, and progressive coaching.

He first rose to prominence during his time with Walton & Hersham, playing a key role in their meteoric rise through the non-league pyramid and helping to establish an exciting, front-foot style of football that drew widespread praise.

Speaking upon his appointment, Rowley said:

โ€œItโ€™s a massive community club. The history of this club is incredible, I know a few boys who have played for this team and they canโ€™t speak highly enough of it.

โ€œIโ€™m just looking forward to getting on the grass with the lads. When a club like Yeovil call you up, it is incredibly hard to turn that down.โ€

Chairman Prabhu Srinivasan added:

โ€œOur focus is clear: progressive, attacking football, a strong identity, and a commitment to developing players at Huish Park.

โ€œIn Billy Rowley, we found exactly what we were looking for. Iโ€™ve watched his Walton side firsthand, the quality of his setup, the clarity of his ideas, and the intensity of his football are unmistakable.

โ€œSpeaking with him only reinforced that he was the standout choice. Billy is the manager we wanted, and we are delighted to bring him to the club.โ€

Rowley will meet the squad immediately as he begins preparations for this weekendโ€™s fixture.

Everyone at Yeovil Town welcomes Billy to Huish Park and looks forward to an exciting new chapter under his leadership.

Chairman and Owner, Prabhu Srinivasan said: “Folks, thank you so much for all your support during this transition period. Please be rest assured, whatever we do, you will always be in the front and centre of it.

“Also, I want to take a moment to thank Richard for what he has done in interim, much appreciated. As a family, we have been dealing with a lot of scenarios, which are more outcomes from decisions taken in the past season.

“We have been very reactive and not proactive at all. That’s not the way we normally operate. You please understand our core ethos is the same. Achieve by unity and do all the three C’s. Create calmness, which I think we have, be competitive and do a lot for the community.

“The blueprint for calmness and community is already rolled out, but the blueprint for being competitive is not seen. You are not seeing that on the pitch going forward.

“What we do want to do from a blueprint for competitiveness is about playing progressive football, have a lot of tactical energy, get the players united to what they need to do, and more importantly, youth development.

“We wanted a manager who aligns to this, who has the first blood in him to do what we want him to do. We need to do a collaborative manager approach rather than a manager doing what he needs to do separately.

“I have personally gone scouting for managers in the last two weeks because I didn’t want to go on hearsay information and data points.

“I needed to see for myself, we have a manager who will do what we need him to do. I’m happy to announce we have a new manager on board. He will be revealed to you guys shortly.

“But from whatever I’ve seen, his pure energy to do what we need to do is top of the line. And I’m hoping you guys will support us through this decision. Please keep an open mind.

“And again, I’m glad we had all the curveballs first up rather than later. Now you guys can see what we want to do as owners for the club. Again, we want to build a sustainable club, not a one, six and wonder club.

“Please be keeping the faith with us. The three points for us is as important as it is for you. Thank you so much.

“Take care.”

WALTON & HERSHAM STATEMENT:

Following an approach received during our fixture vs Hungerford on Saturday, Billy Rowley has left his position as First Team Manager with immediate effect to take up a new opportunity higher up the football pyramid after 18 months in charge at Walton & Hersham FC.

He follows a number of individuals who, during their time at the club, have been able to develop within our environment before moving on to roles at higher-level sides in recent years.

At moments of change, one thing remains constant: the strength of our community.

The club will now begin the process of identifying and appointing a new First Team Manager. Further updates will be provided in due course.
