Wycombe’s new Mardi Gras goalkeeper kit was released this week, however it gets plenty of mixed reaction, some loving it, others not so.
It’s not unusual for the Chairboys to unveil an eyecatching strip for their shot-stoppers, and this latest design has gone and just caused a stir on the club’s social media page.
The Buckinghamshire outfit are set to play in the second tier of English football for the first time in their history, after beating Oxford United in the League One playoff final a few months back.
The club have unveiled not just one, but two keeper kits, but it’s the multicoloured one that’s got people talking.

Wycombe said via their website: “Bearing the logo of new club sponsor Dreams across the front, and with Origin Doors & Windows on the reverse, the new shirts can be snapped up for £45 in adult sizes and £36 in child sizes, with all supporters who place orders before 11.59pm on Sunday 16th August guaranteed to be amongst the first to receive the new shirt in September.
“Two brand-new goalkeeper strips have also been unveiled; one in a black-to-grey ombre design, and one in Mardi Gras colours of purple, green and yellow.
“Wanderers will be retaining its mango change kit for a further season, although the new variety will now carry the logo of Dreams across the front. Cherry Red Records will sponsor the shorts of the home, change and goalkeeper kits.

“Ordering your shirts online comes with the option to have the official EFL lettering and numbering printed on the reverse of the shirt; ordering via wwfcshop.co.uk is the only place to have the official EFL style printed on your shirt. You can choose to have the name and number of a current Chairboys star, or a name and number of your own.
“All replica kit items are currently in production and scheduled to arrive at the club in mid to late-September, with shipping due to commence as quickly as possible. Supporters will be kept updated with delivery dates once more precise information is known.
“Please note that kit suppliers O’Neills have updated their size chart and therefore fans should take note of the new measurements here.
“A new third kit, plus the new training and leisure wear, will be launched later this month. No kit items will be available to buy from the shop at Adams Park until further notice.”

I shouldn’t like it. But somehow I love it. Never thought about buying keeper kits before but might get both when I can afford it. Home shirt ordered already.

— Kevin&Laura (@ThePrestoe2) August 13, 2020
I actually like it ?
— PhilB64 (@afcbally) August 13, 2020
It’s a goalkeeper shirt. They’re supposed to be flamboyant by law, but the inappropriately coloured badge makes a mockery of it.
— Martin Clift (@MartinClift5) August 14, 2020
I think it’s good great for kids but not brave enough to wear it myself
— andy (@mayor_andy) August 15, 2020
It’s already on little mans Xmas list and we’re still in August ??
— Adam Cooper (@apcwwfc) August 15, 2020
Collectors I reckon.. That’ll be a huge item in 10-15 years’ time.
— Gaz ??????? ? ?? ?? (@GazTheKitman) August 15, 2020
It’s certainly different, but taking me a while to grow on me. Do like how wacky and different Wycombe’s GK have been though. Incredible to see the response it got in terms of sales too, outnumbering the black one, which usually goes well when other clubs release similar versions
