Steve Evans said to the club’s media: ‘It was disappointing.
‘In spells today we played as good as we can play. We pinned them back for long, long spells and it’s as quiet as I’ve heard the supporters here until they scored.
‘(Nombe) was just offside (when he put the ball in the net) and the Assistant Referee called that properly. He went half a shoulder too early. If we’d gone in front we’d probably have won comfortably but that didn’t happen.
‘Their first goal was a miss-clearance from Jamie McCart but it was a good piece of skill and the kid put it into the net. When they get the penalty we’re chasing the game, we’re a goal down and we’re only going half the chase.
‘We dominated today in long, long spells and I’ll be absolutely gobsmacked if the supporters who were here today didn’t think we played well and absolutely gobsmacked if they don’t go away wondering how we didn’t win that game three- or four-nil. We should have been three ahead at half-time but we didn’t take our chances. The boys at the back were never stretched until we go a goal down.
‘We’ll go away and look at the positives, there aren’t a lot of negatives, the negatives are at the front end of the pitch. We need to score a goal but I think we’ll play a lot worse and win.’
Matt Bloomfield said as per Bucks Free Press: “I’m really pleased with the performance as we dominated possession and territory and I’m very happy with how we attacked the game.
“We knew we had to make it a football game with the ball in play as much as possible, and I’m pleased with the way the boys went with their task.
“I think that the resilience boys showed was brilliant, as you have to stand up and be counted for when you play against Rotherham.
“We knew we were going to have a tough game as Steve [Evans] has recruited really well as they have got players who have played at a good level but we stuck to our task and I’m pleased with how we played.
“I’m so happy for Cameron.
“It’s the fourth time I’ve tried to sign him.
“The first was at Colchester and that was never going to happen, last summer, then in January and now he is here.
“He’s a very good player Cam as he’s highly thought of at Ipswich, and thank you to Kieran [McKenna] for allowing us to come here.”
Steve Evans refuses to shake hands as fans joke he’s ‘livid inside’ after Rotherham lose to Exeter
