The existing stand currently holds 350 seats, that however will be got rid of and a new structure of 880 seats all under cover will be put in it’s place, taking the stadium capacity to over 5,000.
It will come with a concourse, food outlet and bar area as well as male and female toilet blocks.
Chairman Irving Weaver said: “Apart from meeting future EFL criteria the new stand will provide significantly more seating so that we can accommodate more families and supporters that would prefer to sit than stand to watch their football. We are focused on continuing to improve the match day experience for supporters.”
The club website asked first team manager Simon Weaver for his reaction to the development.
“Hopefully it shows supporters and everyone in Harrogate that whilst we are striving to achieve promotion, we are continuing to improve our stadium, receiving EFL approval for ground capacity. We already have a great atmosphere on match days and the new family stand will allow more families to enjoy watching exciting football in a comfortable, safe environment.”
Fans gave their reaction after finding out that work gets underway on the new stand at Harrogate Town…
Phil,
All current season ticket holders will have first refusal on selecting a seat should they wish to renew next season. We will announce details of this in due course, but need clarity on a number of things, as you can imagine, before we reach that stage. Best wishes ?— Ben Sadler (@bensadler12) April 29, 2020
Typically fair – thank you. With so many loose-ends to juggle with, forward planning must be a nightmare. The soon to be revealed promotion decision will at least provide the club with some clarity. Fingers crossed ?
