Wolves produce a silly yet epic transfer video announcement for the highly rated Joao Gomes who joins the club from Flamengo.
The 21-year old midfielder from Brazil joins the club, signing a five and a half year contract at Molineux with the option to extend that for an additional 12 months.
This deal ends a long-running transfer saga that began when Lyon, who tried to take over the deal while Flamengo broke the agreement they had with Wolves.
Gomes wanted to join Wolves and turned down Lyon. The Premier League outfit remained firm with their original offer which was ultimately accepted.

CLUB STATEMENT:
Wolves have secured the signing of highly rated Brazilian midfielder Joao Gomes from Flamengo, subject to work permit and international clearance.
After a patient and determined recruitment process, Wolves have made the 21-year-old Julen Lopetegui’s sixth acquisition of the January transfer window.
Gomes landed in England on Sunday, before completing his introductions and medical tests, and put pen to paper on a five-and-a-half-year deal, with the option of a further 12 months, adding to the old gold’s midfield department.
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Gomes was on Flamengo books right from the start, learning his trade through the club’s academy system, before being given his chance as a 19-year-old in November 2020.
The youngster was quickly in the thick of the action for Flamengo, and by the end of season one, where he featured 16 times, the midfielder had won the Brazilian league and Campeonato Carioca, a competition which sees Rio clubs compete.
Flamengo, Brazil’s most well-supported club, are often envied by fellow Rio sides, meaning derbies against the likes of Fluminense, which take place at the legendary Maracana, and Botafogo provided a baptism of fire for Gomes.
Further honours continued into the 2021 season, when he was a regular fixture in the midfield, and last year, which ended in November ahead of the winter, Gomes and Flamengo were named champions of South America after beating Athletico Paranaense in the final.
That win last October proved to be one of Gomes’ final games for Flamengo, and he now heads to Molineux for a first experience of European and English football with Wolves.
One other transfer announcement video that Wolves did, which got a lot of attention was when they confirmed the signing of Diego Costa. Wonder what happened to him since then…
Costa said: “I was scared to death. Holding that chain I kept thinking, ‘What if this wolf thinks about jumping on top of me?’ and then the three of them did.
“Because the lady training them kept calling them, asked them to move around a little and the dog, the wolves didn’t do a single thing. And I thought, ‘If they’re not doing anything with the trainer, if they come’…when they came and smelled my foot, I knew I was done for.
“I was a little scared then. Those were wolves, not dogs. It was a cool experience but not a very comfortable one. I have five dogs, but they’re not wolves!”
