Which Premier League clubs are for or against neutral venues option? 13 sides have given their verdict according to The Athletic.

Majority of top flight clubs have reportedly agreed to use neutral stadiums if the Government gives football the green light to complete the 2019/20 campaign.

Those who are FOR the neutral venues option are Arsenal, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Everton, Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle and Liverpool.

Those who are AGAINST the neutral venues option are Bournemouth, Brighton, Watford and West Ham.

It is unknown how the other remaining seven teams are swaying towards.

Brighton’s chief executive Paul Barber says his club are “not in favour” of the proposal.

He said: “Clearly, we must all be prepared to accept some compromises. We fully appreciate why playing behind closed doors is very likely to be a necessary compromise to play our remaining games while continuing to fully support the government’s efforts to contain the spread of coronavirus.

“But at this critical point in the season, playing matches in neutral venues has, in our view, potential to have a material effect on the integrity of the competition.”

A four hour meeting was held with officials and club chiefs on Friday, laying out their plans to complete the current season.

Reports suggest the remaining games will be played behind closed doors at “eight to ten neutral and approved venues”.

Eight grounds are leading the race to be named as one of the Premier League’s neutral hubs.

They are Brighton’s Amex Stadium and Southampton’s St Mary’s Stadium for the south coast.

West Ham’s London Stadium and Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium is tipped to be used for the London area.

Leicester’s King Power Stadium and Villa Park of Aston Villa for the midlands.

And Manchester United’s Old Trafford along with the Etihad Stadium for the north west.

It is believed the neutral grounds, which will all be current Premier League stadiums, are to be revealed in the next two weeks.

Wembley Stadium and St George’s Park are said to have been disregarded as potential options.

There is no mention of Liverpool’s Anfield, meaning Jurgen Klopp’s side will be prevented from lifting the Premier League title on their own turf.

A Premier League insider said: “It’s pretty clear we will have to play behind closed doors when we come back — including, probably, into next season.

“Nobody wants that but we cannot deny the reality.

“This is seen by everybody as the best option in the circumstances and we recognise that we must choose venues where we can ensure only those authorised to be there will be in and around the stadium.

“Of course, there are a range of views around the League and clubs. They all have their own stances and positions.

“But it was generally agreed that we should do everything we can to try to finish the season.”
