West Ham player suggests what league position he thinks his side can achieve this season

West Ham United player Robert Snodgrass has suggested what league position he thinks his side can achieve come the end of this season.

The Hammers currently sit 9th in the Premier League table but with 11 games left to play, Snodgrass has insisted that they should be targeting a 7th place finish.

Any team ending up in that position could see them qualifying for the Europa League qualifying stages, but that will only happen if either Manchester City or Manchester United win the FA Cup, which will push the final Europa place down to seventh.

Right now, the Premier League has four Champions League spots and three Europa League places each season.

Two of the three Europa League places go to the winners of the FA Cup and Carabao Cup. The other goes to fifth place in the league.

Because Manchester City won the Carabao Cup and look likely to be finishing in a place which will qualify them for the Champions League group stages – the Europa League spot is awarded to sixth place in the league.

Snodgrass told the club’s official website: “We have been working a lot on set pieces leading up to the game and it’s my duty to put a good cross in and the lads to get on the end of it, so happy days.

“I can’t say where we are going to finish but there is that seventh position which is achievable.

“We are three points closer to that now.

“We need to keep winning games.”

Snodgrass added: “It’s great to see Manu back. He has been through a tough time with his injury and the manager has put him right in because he looks good in training. He’ll want to get some minutes under his belt – we will hopefully see the best of him in the run in.”
