West Ham issue statement with Kurt Zouma and family left traumatised after horrific incident

West Ham United have took to issue a statement with footballer Kurt Zouma and his family left traumatised after a horrific incident.

Reports state that Zouma ended up being left terrified after armed raiders broke into his family home and escaped with around £100,000 in cash as well as jewellery.

The gang ransacked the player’s home while he had been at home with his young family.

Because of this, Zouma, 29, couldn’t take part in his side’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday.

Police have since warned residents in the areas about the organised gang.

West Ham have also revealed they would offer a £25,000 reward for information in the hope of catching the culprits.

CLUB STATEMENT:

West Ham United has offered a £25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and successful prosecution of burglars who broke into defender Kurt Zouma’s home on the eve of the Club’s Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace this past weekend.

Kurt’s home was broken into on Saturday while all his family were in the house, leaving everyone present extremely distressed. While thankfully no one was harmed, it was a traumatic experience for the West Ham defender, his wife and their young family.

The burglars took items of significant value and of huge personal and sentimental importance to the family.

The West Ham United family continue to offer Kurt’s family their full support and Joint-Chair David Sullivan has encouraged anyone with information relating to the identity of the burglars to come forward.

He said: “First and foremost, the thoughts of everyone connected to West Ham United are with Kurt and his family. To have someone break into your home is a terrifying experience and I hope this reward will help bring the individuals to justice and prevent others from going through a similar ordeal.”

Anyone who has any relevant information should email confidential@westhamunited.co.uk with as much detail as possible, which will then be shared with the police.

Some were led to believe Zouma may have missed the game due to injury, however, it soon became clear it was due to personal reasons, as per Claret and Hugh.

It was thought in the lead up to the fixture that because of the issues Kurt has had with his knees, that it may have caused a problem again.

However, Claret and Hugh then confirmed that this wasn’t the reason for him not being in the squad with the club telling them: “More will come out over the net few days but his absence was due to personal reasons not injury.”
