West Brom fan treated by medics after injuring himself celebrating goal at Rotherham

A West Brom fan had to be treated by medics after injuring himself celebrating a goal at Rotherham United on Tuesday night.

Grady Diangana and Jed Wallace netted with second half strikes to seal a win for the Baggies, who went into this game having suffered back-to-back defeats.

This was the Millers’ first game since they appointed new head coach Leam Richardson, but the result means they stay winless since October – with the run stretching to 9 games, and sees Rotherham remained at the foot of the Championship.

And judging by the videos and photos emerging of the celebrations, it looked like quite the bonkers away end at the New York Stadium.

And for those wondering if the lad in the video below is alright, it’s claimed that he had just sprained it, thankfully nothing broken.

The result leaves West Brom sitting 5th, with 35 points taken from 21 games played while Rotherham are down in 24th with 13 points from 21 games played, 8 points from safety.

Rotherham – Johansson, Lembikisa, Bramall, Hugill (Kelly 84), Lindsay (Hall 70), Rathbone (Eaves 90), Odoffin, Morrison, Tiehi, Revan, Appiah (Nombe 70). Unused- Phillips, Peltier, Nombe, McGuckin.

West Brom – Palmer, Furlong (Ajayi 90), Townsend, Kipre, Bartley, Molumby (Wallace 66), Diangana (Fellows 66), Sarmiento (Pipa 79), Thomas-Asante, Mowatt, Yokuslu (Chalobah 90). Unused- Griffiths, Pieters, Swift, Reach.

Referee – S Barrott

Speaking after the game, Leam Richardson said, as per themillers.co.uk: “I’ve been told the group is an honest bunch of pros, which you’ve just seen again.

“They’re playing against a fantastic team with ample forward-thinking players in the squad but I thought we matched them.

“I thought we matched them in every area and I think they’ve had two shots on-target.

“Within the game, there was nothing in it.

“I thought the lads stuck the task very well and the stood by the game plan.

“Can we create a little more quality and a few more chances once we get there? Of course we can, but we quickly move on.

“It’s been a matter of hours getting to know first name etc, so we quickly move on tomorrow, dust ourselves down and go again.”

Carlos Corberan said, via the Baggies website: “The most important thing today was to commit to the game and achieve the result we always wanted to achieve.

“It was really important to react after two defeats and achieve the three points today.

“To do that, we had to do two things. Firstly, we had to understand the game and secondly, we had to compete really well in the game.

“We knew that we were playing against a team who would throw a lot of long balls at us and we had to be strong in the challenges and in the aerial duels.

“We had to be patient in terms of understanding the game. We couldn’t attack as well as we know we can do in the first-half and we knew we had to do better. We played on Saturday and with only two days to train in between, you have no time to work on behaviours and patterns.

“But, for me, the best thing was how the players competed and the strength they had to show to get that result. It was key for us winning three points.

“The team were better in the second-half. We created more runs and we found ways to break the press. We had to compete strongly until the end. We defended until the end. We won aerial duels and second balls.

“They put more deliveries in the box, but we defended well.

“We have players with quality and we were able to find the solution.”
