Wayne Rooney speaks on his body transformation and shuts down fat jab claims as before and after pictures emerge on social media.
With the launch of their new documentary, he and Coleen appeared on This Morning, as well as many other shows, promoting it.
They talk on a range of topics, but one point raised this week was his weight loss, with Wayne reflecting on what he has done and what motivated him to lead a healthier lifestyle.

Ben Shephard said: What is interesting when you’ve done a documentary that goes across a whole year is you looking back looking back at how much the boys have grown and how much they’ve changed but also how much you’ve changed as well Wayne and you look incredible. You look really well. How are you feeling?
Wayne replied: No I feel great. I haven’t drank actually for a while. Just I just wanted to feel a bit healthier and be healthier and some obviously eating habits a lot better and and training. So, everyone’s saying I’m on this pen thing which I’m not which I want to get that out there. I’m not actually, I’m working hard to try and…
Ben: Look, being fit and healthy has always been big part of your life as well. You can see how important it is to the boys too and now you can be so involved with that as well which I think must be really lovely.
Wayne: Yeah. No, I think it’s, there’s things you do which I’ve missed out on throughout me life because I’ve been away with football and I’ve been there at some birthdays or at Christmas and you miss out on these moments and when I’ve stopped playing, I said before I got into a bit of a rut and you know probably drinking a bit too much or not getting in routine of training, and then I just thought, you know what, I want to enjoy me time with me kids while they’re at this age and and with Coleen as well. And actually I’ve been more present, more there with them.
Ben: “How much of a difference has it made?”
Coleen: Massive difference, I think, because all my life I’ve planned everything with Wayne out of it. And if he’s there, it’s a bonus. Whereas now, as a family unit, we can plan together. So, you know, it whether it’s a school run, whether it’s a family holiday, we know, you know, what we’re doing and it’s just nice to share the load off on with someone else. And, you know, there’s a lot of parents out there that you do that anyway, but because of the position with Wayne’s job, it was never like that.”
Cat: I mean, you are a real planner. I saw you laying out like literally the school uniforms. It’s almost military Coleen.
Coleen: Yeah, I am. And that does do his head in.
Wayne: You know why? because it’s hard because I can’t do that and I’m day to day so if I have to get the kids stuff out I’ll just get in the morning or whatever. So and then Coleen will get annoyed because I can’t do that and then so it’s that’s where I’ve just got to take a step backward step.
Cat: And also why you work so well together too.
Ben: She sets impossibly high standards. That’s the thing. I mean like most men we are struggling to keep up with our high achieving wives and this is very apparent but it’s lovely that you are so much more involved and you can be now as well. I mean the football thing in the back of your mind is there any idea that you want to go back into football? Would you still do it?
Wayne: No. Well, that was big part in the show which I’m not stupid as well and think I’ve had four jobs. I’ve just been sacked from me last two jobs. Is this really do I want to go down that route again? Or there’s opportunity I could go in TV as a pundit and podcasting and stuff but then be more present, and me kids, especially Kai’s had a important age with his GCSEs and trying to get a contract at Man United. So, I decided to go down this route, and then I’ve just found a lot more balance that way with football. I’ve been in that for like 25 years and not had that balance which I’ve enjoyed, loved, but just thought, you know what, let’s try and start a different route and it’s helped me get back to a much better place.
Ben: And obviously we’re all very excited about the new [I’m A Celebrity] series you’ve got an inside track of what it would be like. You’re looking fit and healthy, so you’re ready for the shower shot in your swimming trunks, Wayne, with the six-pack. Is it something you’re considering?
Wayne: No, I’ve been asked all the time as well. And there’s obviously there’s rumours being the last few years and there’s rumours again this year. So, have to wait and see.
