Viewers were left baffled on Saturday afternoon after watching Antonio Rudiger BITE Chelsea teammate Reece James in the goal celebrations.
It was an exciting start to the first Premier League fixture on it’s return after the international break, with the woodwork being struck after four minutes played.
Ben Chilwell, the former Leicester full-back who was with every touch, was played in behind by Antonio Rudiger. He drove into the box, only had the keeper to beat, but smacked it onto the crossbar.
Just under 10 minutes later, Antonio Rudiger, who was the best player on the pitch, flicked the ball into the far corner to make it 1-0.
Ben Chilwell got the assist with the corner delivery, helping the league leaders get up and running.
That’s a superb glancing header from Antonio Rüdiger 🎯

On the 24th minute, Leicester thought they had snatched an equaliser but it didn’t count because Ademola Lookman was adjudged to be offside.
Jamie Vardy took on Thiago Silva before laying it off to Marc Albrighton on the right. He curled it in, Lookman slid it past the keeper but the flag was up.
Shortly after, N’Golo Kante made it 2-0 to Chelsea with a rifle into the top right corner from the edge of the box.
N’GOLO! 😱
A driving run and a superb finish from the former Leicester man! 🔥🔥

Reece James gave someone the shoulder fake on the right, skipped away, cut it inside to Kante and he did the rest.
However in the celebrations, Antonio Rudiger thought it would be a good idea to bite James on the head as teammates grouped together to congratulate.

The 70th minute saw another great goal from Chelsea as Trevoh Chalobah’s pass cut through the defence, Hakim Ziyech left Caglar Soyuncu spinning on the left and he teed up Christian Pulisic, who poked it past the keeper at the near post.
Almost immediately after, Reece James flicked the ball across the top of the Leicester box. It was deflected heavily and fell to Christian Pulisic. He chested it down and set Callum Hudson-Odoi up for a sitter but the offside flag was up and it was a second disallowed goal of the game.
The 83rd minute saw another disallowed goal, Antonio Rudiger, again, picked out Ben Chilwell with a ball over the top, again. It came over to Reece James on the right and he slid it under the keeper but the flag is up on Chilwell… again.
This is not the first time Antonio Rudiger was claimed to have bit another player, as this was claimed to have happened to Paul Pogba during France vs Germany earlier this year.
Antonio Rudiger denied biting the Man Utd player in France’s 1-0 win over Germany but admitted the incident did look “unfortunate”.
After the match, Pogba claimed Rudiger “nibbled” him but insisted the defender shouldn’t face a ban for the incident.
Pogba was spotted reacting angrily after a clash with the Chelsea man during the first-half in Munich. Replays showed Rudiger lowering his head to Pogba’s back, and there were suggestions the German had bitten the midfielder.
Rudiger said after the game: “I should not come close with my mouth to his back, no doubt about it. It looks unfortunate.
“Paul and I have talked about it as friends after the final whistle.
“And he stated in our little talk and talking to the press that it was no bite, as some viewers first thought it was. Even during the match, the ref told me that he would have punished me if he thought that it was violent conduct.”
Did Rudiger really just BITE Pogba!? 🤔 pic.twitter.com/cSQP1Mc7K0

He said: “We’re friends. This was nothing big. I think you saw the TV pictures, this is all over, this belongs to the past, I’m not crying for yellow or red cards for such actions.
“He nibbled, I think, a little bit on me.
“We’ve known each other for a long time. I felt it, I told the referee, he takes the decisions and he took the decision. He hasn’t received any card and I think it’s better like this.
“I don’t want him to be suspended because of this.”
