Viewers amused at awful Huddersfield foul throw and player pushed over advertising board

Viewers were left amused at an awful foul throw from Huddersfield and player Matty Pearson getting pushed over an advertising board.

It came as Nottingham Forest reach the FA Cup quarter-finals after Tom Lees had put Huddersfield ahead in the 13th minute, only for Sam Surridge and Ryan Yates to complete a turnaround for Steve Cooper’s side meaning Liverpool will visit the City Ground in the next stage.

One moment during the game saw Max Lowe (#15 of Nottingham Forest) shoving Matty Pearson (#4 of Huddersfield Town) over the LED advertising board resulting in a yellow card, causing many in the ground and watching at home to laugh.

Then with the clock ticking down, Huddersfield were trying to throwing everything at the game to get an equaliser.

Spanish right-back Pipa tried to rush a throw in in a bid to get a late goal for the Terriers, only for the player to be a foot over the line upon launching the ball into the area.

It came with just over a minute remaining of the five added onto the second half, with the referee having to stop play, and Huddersfield could only watch that back with embarrassment and no doubt something to work on in training.

As mentioned, Nottingham Forest will host Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-finals after coming from behind to beat Huddersfield 2-1 at the City Ground.

After seeing Sam Surridge’s effort controversially ruled out for offside, Forest fell behind moments later when Tom Lees scored with a 13th-minute header.

Surridge then struck an equaliser in the 29th minute, with Ryan Yates completing the turnaround for Steve Cooper’s men by putting the hosts in front eight minutes later.

“You could feel the atmosphere,” Cooper told BBC Radio Nottingham on the 27,417 fans who helped Forest into a first last-eight tie since 1996.

“We’re getting used to this. Not a soul leaving until the final whistle, and we just want to be a team they can be proud of.

“I talk every week about how the connection has to be as strong as possible and it is, we’ve shown how powerful we can be.”

Cooper remains focused for the club’s next game, putting cup fever on hold, and will be plotting to pick up all three points when they play Reading at home in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.

“It will be special, but we’ve got Reading next,” he added. “When I leave the stadium that’s all my mind will be on, being ready to play well again.

“When it comes round we’ll enjoy it, and do our best to be ready for it, but there are a couple of really important games to play before.

“The groundsman’s got a lot of work to do with the home games, but when the stadium is like this it’s an amazing place.”

Carlos Corberán said he was disappointed at full-time of his side’s FA Cup Fifth Round tie against Nottingham Forest, after falling short in what was an entertaining game.

“I’m disappointed, of course. When you’re playing a game that’s all or nothing and you don’t win you can’t keep going in the Cup, it’s disappointing.

“We knew that we were playing against an opponent that would be very demanding today, and that’s exactly what happened in the game.

“To give you my feeling of the game, the first half they were better than us in what we tried to do, to dominate with the ball.

“They were really aggressive and we didn’t find the clear solutions.

“It’s true that we scored the goal and had a really big opportunity with Pipa finishing against the post and after Sorba Thomas.

“They didn’t have big chances either, but the two chances that they did have, they scored the goals.

“The second half we tried to play with the total opposite idea.

“We tried to break the press, play with more strikers and play long, and it’s that we has some approximations toward the box without concreate finishes in the proper way to control the result and have some very good counter attacks when we were taking the risk to achieve a draw that would allow us to take it to extra time.”
