VIDEO: Will Vaulks scores from inside his own half for Cardiff against Brentford

A video of Will Vaulks has gone viral, after he scores from inside his own half for Cardiff against Brentford on Boxing Day.

The first half of the Championship fixture was looking to set to finish goalless, however the former Rotherham player prevented that from happening with an absolute beauty.

As Cardiff start a breakaway attack, midfielder Will Vaulks lets fly from 10 yards inside his own half.

Bees keeper David Raya was quite some way off his line and couldn’t get back to keep it out, watching it sail over his head and into the back of the net.

Incredible strike from the Bluebirds man. You won’t see many better long-range goals than that one.

Wales Online couldn’t believe what they had just saw, saying: “OH MY GOD! Will Vaulks from the halfway line!

“Vaulks plays a one-two with Glatzel, who is on the halfway line, and the Welshman absolutely smacks one from 60 yards over the top of Raya and it’s a goal!

“That is reminiscent of Mark Hudson, but maybe better. A somersault follows. And City lead!

“What a way to do it.”

Minutes into the second half, Thomas Frank’s side got one back through Sergi Canos equalises, levelling the scoreline 1-1.

Another goalkeeper was lobbed in the making of it. The ball fell to Canos 20 yards from goal after a shot was blocked and he hit a looped volley and it dipped over Smithies and into the Cardiff net.

Then in the 55th minute, Will Vaulks flew through Vitaly Janelt as he looked to break. Horrid to see and all then Brentford players came flying at Vaulks, who then received a yellow card.

Dalsgaard walked over to Neil Harris and says: “Come on, it’s football!”. Harris pushes him back on to the field and it’s play on.

Another beauty was nearly scored moments after as Ivan Toney tried a spectacular overhead kick but mishit it and the ball dipped over Smithies as the keeper tipped it over!

Brentford then completed their comeback from 1-0 down to 2-1 up on the 65th minute, Sergi Canos again doubling his tally for the day and it was another great strike.

He was found on the left-hand side and once again skipped past Bacuna too easily. He cut inside and fakes one shot before drilling it past Smithies in the bottom corner.

Shortly after Canos went for a third, however he bent his effort over the bar.

With under 20 minutes remaining Canos finally got his hat-trick dinking it over Smithies and into the far post. Fair to say the keeper will be bitterly disappointed with that.

The goals didn’t stop there, that man Vaulk was there with another! A deflected volley off Ivan Toney put Cardiff back in it!

Morrison wins the knockdown from the corner and Vaulks hammers a volley at goal before it takes a knock off the big striker and cannons past Raya. 3-2 with 15 minutes remaining.

Unfortnately for Cardiff, they couldn’t get an equaliser, and therefore lost, leaving them bang on midtable in the Championship table, and Brentford sit 4th.
