Connah’s Quay Nomads caused a huge shock last night after knocking out Kilmarnock in the Europa League first qualifying round last night.
The Welsh minnows went into the second leg with a rather bleak chance of advancing for the next round after losing 2-1 to the SPL’s third place side in the first half of the fixture.
Though in front of around 3,000 fans at Killie’s Rugby Park in what was hosting its first European tie in 18 years, new Kilmarnock manager Angelo Alessio suffered a shock 2-0 defeat (3-2 on aggregate).
Callum Roberts rose up and headed the ball into the net in the 49th minute, before the Nomads were given a penalty after Scott Findlay was given a red card, leading to Callum Morris smashing home, causing boos to erupt in the stadium.

As you can see in the video below, the supporters of the Scottish Premier League side were left reeling at the performance their side was producing…
Killie boss Alessio said: “It was very disappointing. In the first half we had three opportunities to score, but in the second half the game was no good.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t think this game [would go wrong] after the right result last week. At the same time I thought this team had the quality, the strength and the right motivation to come back in this game.”
The Welsh side’s manager Andy Morrison said on Twitter: “Having had time to reflect.
“As a manager You need to have luck and good fortune on your side to be successful.
“We make our own good fortune time after time.
“My luck is the staff I have and the group of players I work with which makes me the luckiest manager in football!!”
As mentioned, that result was the talk of the nation last night, many congratulated Connah’s Quay, others amusingly mocked Kilmarnock for their shock exit from the Europa League – check out what was tweeted on the next page.
