VIDEO: Valery, Pereira and Ward-Prowse score goal of the season contenders in thrilling game

There were many a stunning goal scored in Manchester United’s thrilling win over Southampton, with three of five goals surely having to be goal of the season contenders?!

Youngster Yan Valery broke the deadlock halfway into the first half by hitting a right-footed thunderbolt from distance that flies into the top corner past David De Gea.

Minutes into the second half, United’s Andreas Pereira then also produced a stunning long-range strike, also into the top corner, from 25 yards.

Shortly after, Romelu Lukaku got on the scoresheet after finding the bottom corner to make it 2-1 to United.

However, James Ward-Prowse got the Saints level with an exquisite free-kick, also from 25 yards and again in the top corner.

Lukaku again found the net to put Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side 3-2 up and Pogba could have made it 4-2 with a penalty in stoppage time, but was saved by Angus Gunn.

The result meant Manchester United stayed 4th, now just three points behind Tottenham in third after they drew their derby with Arsenal earlier today.

Southampton remain outside the drop, just two points clear of Cardiff who occupy the first spot, ten away from Fulham in 23rd and thirteen from rock bottom Huddersfield.
