The Germany international could be seen turning towards away fans, voicing his anger as an object was thrown in his direction.

A Spurs spokesperson said: “With regards the Rudiger incident, we will work with Chelsea to review the footage and take any appropriate action.”

It came as Rudiger’s Chelsea side closed out a 2-0 victory in the day’s late kick-off.

Hakim Ziyech opened the scoring after the break with a left-footed screamer from the top of the box.

Veteran defender Thiago Silva then followed up with a second just eight minutes later.

The first-half ended goalless but was marked by a series of tetchy incidents.

Spurs defender Japhet Tanganga was sent sprawling into the advertising hoardings by a Mason Mount shoulder charge.

And minutes later Harry Kane saw a goal ruled out for what looked like a soft push on Silva in the build-up.

Meanwhile, there was more discontent in the stands with Chelsea and Tottenham fans fighting each other.

Video footage was uploaded to social media, showing what happened, with stewards struggling to keep them apart.

A Spurs spokesperson said: “With regards the Rudiger incident, we will work with Chelsea to review the footage and take any appropriate action.”

Thomas Tuchel fears growing crowd trouble could wreck the special atmosphere at English grounds.

He said: “If it’s a new trend we should act together to stop it as soon as possible to protect the environment of this game and the atmosphere that’s absolutely unique in England.

“I love to have the fans close to the pitch.

“Not behind fences and not behind nets. It’s a brilliant atmosphere.

“In general, I’m not concerned. I enjoy this atmosphere, also in away stadiums, it’s brilliant.”
