A fan was left in pain whilst watching Newcastle United’s Premier League clash with Southampton on Saturday when he received a ball to the face.
The moment came when a shot from Saints midfielder Nathan Redmond went completely off course and into the stands before ending up hitting a Magpies fan in the face, knocking off his flat cat and his surely broken glasses.
Nearby supporters reached out and try to catch the ball, however missed, a fan next to him made sure he was alright whilst everyone else looked shocked.

The injured man was later shown with a bleeding nose on the televised coverage of the game.
A family member of the injured fan gave an update…
Cuts across nose very high blood pressure suspected broken nose bloodied clothes slightly dizzy but he’s ok a bit confused because he suffers from Alzheimer’s and dementia so he didn’t really know what was going on when he was taken away but he’s home now and safe

It’s also stated “Nathan has direct messaged me he is very apologetic and is sending him a signed shirt”.
Newcastle ended up picking up three points with a 3-1 win thanks to a Perez hat-trick – a club first since October 2015 – and Mario Lemina getting what ended up being a consolation for Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side.
Following the result, Rafa Benitez’s side climbed to 12th before falling to 13th due to the other matches over the weekend.
Southampton stay 16th and five points off the relegation zone with four games remaining.
