VIDEO: Anthony Knockaert scores stunner to give Brighton the winner at Crystal Palace

Anthony Knockaert has gone viral on social media this afternoon when he scored a sublime goal to put Brighton & Hove Albion in front for the second time in their M23 derby with Crystal Palace.

It came in the 74th minute, Dale Stephens sent in a cross-field pass which met Knockaert, Patrick van Aanholt couldn’t close him down and Knockaert bent the ball beautifully into the top corner from outside the penalty area.

Watch the moment for yourself in the video below…

Glenn Murray put the Seagulls in front against former club before Milivojevic equalised with penalty on the 50th minute after Propper fouled Townsend.

But Knockaert’s stunner seals all much needed three points for Brighton and complete a double over Roy Hodgson’s Palace.

Former QPR striker Bradley Allen said about the Knockaert’s goal on BBC Radio London: “That is against the run of play. We spoke about Andros Townsend’s goal against Manchester City but this one is right up there with that. A magnificent strike from Knockaert. Un-saveable.”

The result until at least the three o’clock kick offs see Brighton jump up to 14th, replacing Newcastle and go eight points clear of the drop, on the same amount of games as all those below them.

For Crystal Palace, they are just a place higher (13th) than today’s opposition, but have played a game more than them and have the same points.

Football fans took to social media to react on the stunning goal which helped see Knockaert’s name fly up the United Kingdom trends list on Twitter – see what they had to say on the next page.
