Footage has been uploaded onto social media appearing to show James McClean flooring Darnell Fisher before holding him down with an arm on the throat.
Sam Vokes managed to beat Patrick Bauer to header the ball on in the hope the Republic of Ireland midfielder could reach it, though McClean knew he had no chance in reaching it, so took down Fisher.
He was held down angrily with an arm to the neck, before looking and putting his hand up to the referee for something to be done.
As soon as three Preston players got to the duo, Fisher flew up, pushed McClean who then didn’t have chance to have a go back after being taken away.

The heated exchange came in the 77th minute when Preston North End were 3-0 up against Stoke City, the duo both got a yellow card.
Daniel Johnson, Billy Bodin and Josh Harrop all got on the scoresheet and you could say with help from clut Jack Butland who for a £25 million rated goalkeeper should have easily kept out the first two goals.

It is really not Jack Butland's night…?

Harrop scored on his first start at Deepdale since September 2018 to make it 3-0 with 20 minutes to go.
That was enough time for booked player James McClean to get Stoke a consolation, firing home from close range at the back post with a minute left of normal time.
Early days, but the result takes Preston to 10th in the Championship table and Stoke slump to the bottom of the table, rather surprising considering the players that they have got in their squad.
After watching back the heated moment between James McClean and Darnell Fishers, fans quickly took to slam the Irishman for his rugby style take down – see what more they said on the next page.
