Jack Grealish scores ‘outrageous’ goal in Aston Villa friendly

Dean Smith’s side fell behind as winger Kamil Grosicki put the Championship high flyers ahead.

Keinan Davis equalised for Villa, however Filip Krovinovic went on to put Albion back in front.

Skipper Jack Grealish came up with another leveller to prevent his side losing to their local rivals.

The two squads were made up of 25 players plus coaching staff who arrived at the stadium in their own kit and their own cars as they stick to new protocols.

The game was split into three 30-minute periods and most players managed around half an hour each.

The West Midlands Premier League outfit are currently second from bottom with 10 games to play, the first of which is their one in hand against Sheffield United at home next week.

A win would move them side out of the bottom three, however they are still yet to face Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal before the end of the season.

The Blades will be up for it too, three points will see them rise above Manchester United and Wolves into fifth, just two points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

Villa well and truly have a real fight on their hands to avoid an instant return to the Championship.

The clip, which has only just been published, has certainly got us excited and ready for the return of proper football.

The goal has already been viewed more than 100,000 times on scoial media site Twitter since user @newey_sam shared it.

Fair to say it’s a shame that this goal wasn’t celebrated by fans in the packed out Holte End.

Of course, the camera angle in the video wasn’t the greatest, but we’re just glad someone was there to capture it.

Meanwhile, England boss Gareth Southgate has stated that his staff is keeping an eye on Grealish as the player waits for his first international cap.

The gaffer was quick to admit that one mistake [his crash earlier this year] isn’t enough to rule out a player for selection.

“I never judge a player or person on one interaction or one error of judgement,” said Southgate speaking to BBC Five Live.

“We are all human, but I would also add that we don’t miss a lot.

“As a group of staff, we don’t miss a lot and you are always building a picture of a person, a player and whether they can fit into the culture that you want, the culture on the pitch and off the pitch.

“Whether they have the sacrifice and the commitment that’s needed to be a top player.

“So, you are assessing those attitudes as much in this periods as when they are with their clubs because we also will be away for 40, 50 days plus when we are in a tournament and people have to be able to fit into that environment.

“So not for me to rush to judge any situations that have happened because they are with their clubs, that’s for them to deal with, but of course, we are always observing.”

Grealish is currently a summer transfer target for Manchester United, according to reports.

They are said to have made the Aston Villa midfielder their main priority ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.
