VIDEO: Former Sunderland player scores very dodgy own goal

Former Sunderland player Emanuele Giaccherini has gone viral recently after he scored a bizarre and dodgy looking own goal.

The attacking midfielder was playing for bottom of the league Chievo Verona in Italy, who were losing to Sassuolo and ended up producing a comedy moment in stoppage time.

A Sassuolo throwing ended up inside the penalty area before Chievo goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino produced a spectacular save from close range, however the rebound bounced to Giaccherini, who then looked to somewhat chest the ball back to the scrambling shot stopper, before it trickled over the line.

Watch the moment for yourself below…

The goal pretty much sums up Chievo’s miserable season, with the side currently sitting on -1 points after being found guilty of incorrect accountancy practices in the relation to transfer, meaning they were fined and given a points deduction.

Emanuele Giaccherini has scored one goal in the right net so far this season, which came in a 3-2 defeat against his former club Juventus earlier on in the season.

After watching the bizarre own goal, social media users mocked the player’s error, however some thought it was very suspicious – take a look at those tweets on the next page.
