Some football fans have said that the police were to blame for the trouble that took place between Coventry and Sunderland fans after the game…
@Coventry_City police and stewards disgraceful after match directing Sunderland fans looking for car park right into trouble why were they not kept in till city fans had gone ? Disgusting for families with young children to watch what was going on !

Absolute hell on outside the ground. Coventry fans boxing Sunderland fans in throwing bricks and all sorts. Shocking by the police

Police were a joke, smacking Sunderland fans all over when we were the ones boxed in and Coventry were the ones who started the trouble https://t.co/ZPBFn7ruzd

Serious question why weren’t the Sunderland fans held back in the away end whilst home fans dispersed?

The reaction on the ugly scenes kept on coming…
What the hell happened today at the end of the game who was the bright spark that made the decision to bring all the away coaches over to car park B RIGHT NEXT TO WHERE THE COVENTRY FANS EXIT THE STADIUM absolute madness

Just watched it all kick off between Coventry and Sunderland fans. Never seen anything like that – 70/80s stuff. Outrageous.

Tannoy announcements during the game clearly telling fans that Sunderland transport home would be picking up right behind away end. Green light for any troublemakers

I had to meet my step dad outside who’s a sunderland fan and we both had to walk right into that brawl I ended up pulling him away from the trouble when I seen him walking through the middle of it. The police were too busy shouting at people to notice what was going off
