Fair to say it was a rather busy day for Southampton on Monday, they sold Matt Targett to Aston Villa and Che Adams came in from Birmingham City.
In Che’s three years at St Andrew’s, the 22 year old scored 38 goals in 123 appearances and was named in the EFL Team of the Year for the 2018/29 season.
Whilst confirming the transfer of Che Adams, the club also mocked Liverpool for previously buying their best players.

After agreeing a five year deal with the club, the player spoke with SaintsTV, where he then shocked supporters with what he had to say.
He said, as quoted by Give Me Sport: “Southampton’s a huge club.
“Obviously, we want to win the league. Obviously, it’s a lot to ask for.
“But you have to set yourself new targets to hit. And with the squad here that I’ve seen from last season, there’s no reason that we can’t [win the Premier League].”

The Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttel said: “Che fits the profile of player we want to bring to Southampton and is very driven to show what he can do at the highest level.
“We have been monitoring his progress for some time now. He has shown a desire to join us above all other clubs, which shows the positive reputation Southampton has built for developing young players.
“I am delighted to have signed Che and Moussa ahead of the start of pre-season. They are both young, dynamic players with the level of enthusiasm and hunger we are looking for that can help us improve as a team.”
Last season Southampton finished 16th in the Premier League table and just five points clear of the drop.
The bookies are currently offering odds of 1000/1 for Southampton to come out the champions in the 2019/20 season.
Of course, it’s not as high as the 5000/1 Leicester City were given before they went on to win the division in the 2015/16 season, but the Saints’ optimism is increasing especially after the turnaround Ralph made with the side last season as they looked relegation bound before he came in.
SOUTHAMPTON’S FINAL POSITIONS IN THE PREM SINCE 2013:
The 2012/13 season: 14th
The 2013/14 season: 8th
The 2014/15 season: 7th
The 2015/16 season: 6th
The 2016/17 season: 8th
The 2017/18 season: 17th
The 2018/19 season: 16th
After learning and watching new Saints signing Che Adams say not only that he doesn’t see why Southampton can’t win the Premier League but also that the team he’s just signed for are a big club (compared to Birmingham), fans took to take the mick out what he said, Villa fans also having their say – check out what they all wrote on the next page.
