VIDEO: Cardiff’s Krystian Bielik gets slapped by Portsmouth fan he grabbed the throat of

A video emerges of Cardiff’s Krystian Bielik who gets slapped by a young Portsmouth fan he grabbed the throat of down in the South Stand.

A ball goes into the stand, with the fan seen holding it then chucking it over the Bluebirds players’ head, to which the pushes the fan the neck.

The fan stands up and then reaches out, giving what looks to be a slapped in the face. The fan and his family is then reportedly moved from the stadium with Bielik receiving no card.

It came in the 72nd minute of the Championship fixture, with Portsmouth winning 2-0 at the time, and that’s how it ended come full time.

Portsmouth News writer Jordan Cross (@pn_jordan_cross) tweeted: “Controversy and play stopped as Bielik appears to grab a fan in the South Stand #Pompey.

“The ball is then thrown from the stand and hits [Perry] Ng [in the back of his head].

“Play continues after conversations between the officials and staff.”

Cardiff’s Brian Barry-Murphy said, as per Wales Online: “Krystian went to get the ball back from the stands and got slapped in the face.

“I just wanted to make sure he was protected and make sure he was OK. He is.

“I thought the referee and his staff handled the incident impeccably.

“I think the players are always subjected to different things, it’s not acceptable what happens.

“They don’t expect that sort of treatment. My job is to protect the players but really my focus is on trying to make sure that we play well and win.

“So I’m sure the club and the FA (Football Association) will look at this and implement the correct process.”

Pompey’s John Mousinho said: “The referee said that, as Krystian went to get the ball, there was a little bit of a kerfuffle and one of the supporters struck him.

“It wasn’t a good incident. I have just seen him there, and he was OK, but that’s not the point, we can’t be having that.

“We want to create a really difficult atmosphere at Fratton Park, we have done that successfully over the past few years.

“Sometimes it tips over, I understand that, I don’t think it needs to tip over to that extent.

“We extend our apologies to the players, Cardiff and make sure we can try to cut it out.”

Portsmouth FC said in a statement the day after: “Portsmouth Football Club are aware of supporter concerns regarding the incident involving a young fan and an opposition player at yesterday’s match at Fratton Park.

“As this remains a safeguarding matter and is currently under investigation by both the club and the police, it would be inappropriate for us to comment further on the circumstances at this time.

“However, we are aware that a number of claims and assertions are circulating on social media. We would urge caution against speculation while enquiries are ongoing.

“The welfare and safeguarding of young people are of paramount importance to Portsmouth Football Club. We will continue to liaise with the relevant parties as enquiries progress.

“No further comment will be made at this stage while investigations remain ongoing.”
