VIDEO: Bruno Fernandes hits steward during Man Utd goal celebration at Chelsea

Bruno Fernandes hits a steward in the face during the Man Utd goal celebration at Chelsea on Sunday, and it was caught on camera.

The 27 year old Portuguese appeared to strike the security member in the face after Jadon Sancho put his team in the lead.

It came after taking advantage of Jorginho’s blunder, failing to control the ball from falling out of the sky, with the star man celebrating in front of Man Utd’s travelling supporters.

He led the celebrations with the rest of his team joining in, and captain for the day Fernandes seemingly had a heated exchange with a steward.

As can be seen in the clip, several stewards try to keep the players celebrating with those in the away end to a minimal, but Fernandes was clearly incensed by it and wanted to make the most of a moment which saw them go in front.

He then waved his arm at the steward, initially it looked as though Bruno didn’t know he was just behind him, however, the player then looks at him angrily and it caught the attention of many tuning in to the televised fixture.

In the end, Manchester United left Stamford Bridge with point, as seen, Jadon Sancho gave the visitors the lead against run of play, before Jorginho atoned for error with a controversial penalty kick.

Antonio Rudiger had the chance to win it for the Blues right at the end with the final seconds counting down, however skied his effort.

Chelsea sit top of the Premier League table with 30 points from 13 games played while Man Utd are 8th with 18 points also from 13 matches.

What the managers said…

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel on Sky Sports: “I’m absolutely happy. I was happy to coach the team, I saw a huge effort, big intensity, so many ball recoveries in the opponents’ half, put the pressure up high. We controlled the counter-attacks before they started, we were brave and courageous.

“They defended deep and maybe you need the first goal to open up a bit and gain the last per cent of freedom and confidence to have follow-ups and big chances on goal. If you don’t score, you always run a bit behind because you feel like you’re the stronger team, you play in the opponents’ half so we have two or three big chances we should have maybe used. But, in general, I am very happy with the way we played. I was pleased with our aggression, our rhythm and the intensity.”

Man Utd caretaker boss Michael Carrick on Sky Sports: “I’m disappointed actually. When you are in front in a game like this to have it taken away is disappointing. I’m proud of the players and the group all week. In a difficult situation we tried to make the best of it. But there is that little bitter feeling. We came to win the game. A little disappointed, I can’t lie.

“I don’t think it was a penalty at all. They have had a lot of shots David had two saves which we knew before the game he would have to make one or two. Other than that I have felt quite comfortable in the game. Of course we want to be better. I am not getting carried away but I thought we defended well. I cannot fault the boys one bit. To come away disappointed and to feel like you have left something out there is a positive.”

@CaineUTB: Did Fernandes slap the steward 🧐

@adamsolomons5: Is it just me or did Bruno Fernandes just hit that steward in the face?

@jacobwoods97: He seems to be making a lot of emotionally charged decisions recently, none of which are beneficial for him or United. Angrily shoving a steward is unacceptable

@tom_abson: I noticed this at the time and I’m glad Bruno shoved him. Have never understood why stewards feel the need to try and drag the players away from their OWN fans. They’re constantly pushing the players so the players should be able to give them some back.

@anyoldsport: Rat face Bruno Fernandes hitting a steward and Martin Tyler says fuck all
