Andy Carroll has two WORLDIES disallowed as Reading lose 7-0 to Fulham with the result putting more pressure on Royals boss Veljko Paunović.
Carroll smashed in an overhead kick and a 25-yard volley, only to then see both goals ruled out in a frustrating night for the hosts.
To make matters worse, Fulham then put seven past his struggling Reading side – who at the weekend were knocked out of the FA Cup to non league Kidderminster Harriers.

Reading were handed an early blow after Josh Laurent sent a back pass for Luke Southwood straight into the path of Harry Wilson, who simply put it past the Royals’ keeper.
Reading’s form has been bleak to say the least, but they did have a few chances to draw level – including the pair of fantastic Carroll strikes – both of which were ruled out for offside as mentioned.
Mamadi Camera backheeled his effort wide of Marek Rodak’s goal and Carroll had a penalty appeal turned down.
The former Newcastle man then scored with a sensational overhead kick, only for it was cancelled by referee Tony Harrington.
His second a minute later was even better as he produced a thunderous volley from 40 yards – again Harrington disallowed the effort.
It was all too easy for Fulham there on with Kenny Tete adding a fourth as he got the final touch on Mitrovic’s goal-bound header to deflect it past Southwood.
Another sweeping Fulham move saw Kebano slide home from Wilson’s cross to make it 0-5, with Tosin Adarabioyo notching in a sixth as Reading’s defence watched him head home from Wilson’s corner.
There was still enough time on the clock for Mitrovic to make it 7-0 when Southwood parried Rodrigo Muniz’s shot into the Fulham hitman’s stride and he made the simple finish.
WHAT THE MANAGERS SAID:
Reading’s Veljko Paunovic: “Will I be in charge [on Saturday]? I can’t answer that question. This was just a horrible night for us, another horrible night. It has come at a difficult moment for us. We had a setback with our early injury [to Scott Dann, who was replaced]. That changed our whole game, our whole approach and our whole shape.
“From having a trusted line-up, without Scott we had to do a lot of reshuffling. People had to play in positions that they would not do normally. With all that, we needed to adjust pretty quickly. But then we conceded the first goal, which was really avoidable. And the penalty kick, that was also avoidable. But I still have belief in this group. And I do believe in miracles.”
Fulham’s Marco Silva: It will be a special season if you get success at the end of it. If we get that success, of course it will be special. For us and our fans. Until then, we don’t win nothing. In the Championship, in this competition, everything can change so quickly. Sometimes we have deserved points, sometimes we didn’t get them. But this allows us to regroup again. I’m very pleased with it.
“It was a very good result for us and it was a very good performance. It was for our players and for our fans as well. There were some good goals by us and, of course, none conceded. It was a happy night for us.”
Twitter users reacted as Andy Carroll has two WORLDIES disallowed as Reading lose 7-0 to Fulham…
@_col__83: A fucking travesty they weren’t allowed, would have changed the game. If they both went in we would have only lost 7-2
@Pafc_James: If that 2nd goal stood that’s genuinely puskas worthy
@glennfordOC: The 2nd goal is a banger. Poor bandy
@tomiyasuisjesus: If the second one was allowed then it’s goal of the season so far from me. Beaut.
@Lawlor423: He needs to learn to stay onside then
@harrygbm: Andy Carroll with the 2 best disallowed goals you’ll ever see 😳
@ToonArmy2021: Reckon both would be early Puskas contenders if onside. Especially the 2nd one.
@Rigwtf: nah imagine being Andy carroll, you score 2 absolute screamers just to have them both disallowed and then you lose 7-0 😭😭
@jessetto: That Andy Carroll 2nd goal that was offside was an absolute peach!!!
@ElliotGreenough: 2nd best brace in football history and they don’t even count, peak
@Kevin____John: Woke up & saw Andy Carroll had not 1 but 2 (TWO) puskas worthy screamers disallowed yesterday for marginal offside calls. I think it’s about time we start a petition to add a sick goal exemption to the offside rule. Will make the game more entertaining.
@NunoArmy: Fuck off…… forget the rules… that second thunderbastard cannot be disallowed due to its sheer tekkers.
@_DanielWarren: Some finish that second one.
@wademanchester: That volley was better then sex
@KrisPerry96: Crikey hahahaha that seconds a pearler aswell
@Cfcruss26: A fit Andy Carroll is a baller. Tops the list for me of players i would’ve loved to have seen with an injury free career
@robparkerauthor: Carroll scoring two worldies and not getting to keep either is a harsh HARSH vibe for a Tuesday night in January 😂
@DeanHowitt19: The man, the myth, the legend
@HarryDurham_: Second strike is probably the best disallowed goal you’ll ever see. Shame that Reading are utter toilet
@topham93: Imagine if he stayed fit for 90% of his career… what a baller he his
@ibz_rambo: Bro they could’ve given him at least one wtf
@deanfrear: The first is good but how the linesman has the bottle to disallow that second one is beyond me, beautiful
@_JackRFC_: Just goes to show how effective he could’ve been if we’d actually given him proper service
