Andros Townsend has stunned the nation after hitting an unbelievable first-time volley to put Crystal Palace into a surprise lead against Manchester City this afternoon.
Ilkay Gundogan put Man City predictably in front 27 minutes in, however the Etihad Stadium fell into silence five minutes later when Jeffrey Schlupp found an equaliser.
You would think Pep Guardiola’s men would hit back but instead found themselves on the wrong end of the scoreline as Andros Townsend scored what many are calling the goal of the season so far.

Crystal Palace extended their lead when Luka Milivojevic scored a penalty six minutes into the second half.
City found a goal back with the clock ticking down when Kevin De Bruyne curled in a cross only for it to find its way into the top corner.
No more goals were scored and the shock win for Roy Hodgson’s side is music to Liverpool’s ears after they won 2-0 at Wolves last night to remain top of the Premier League table and four points clear at Christmas.
Of course, we have the second half of the season to go, but just could the Reds win their first title since the First Division in 1990?
After Townsend’s goal, the player rapidly climbed the United Kingdom trends list on Twitter, with many fans and pundits applauding what they had just witnessed – check those tweets out on the next page.
